The End Of An Era, The Begining Of A New Dawn ...

At last it's final, Thierry Henry has left the Gunners and it's a sad day for many Arsenal fans. But to me, the club is always bigger than the man. I know this is not the end of Arsenal as many people are probably saying out there. I've been a fan of Arsenal for close to 33 years, ever since I was captivated by the symbol of the cannon they used on their logo. I've been with them through thick and thin.

Yes, no denying the fact that Henry is a great player, in fact he is one of my favourite Arsenal players (only second to the all time great Dennis Bergkamp & Tony Adams) but his departure by no means signal the end of Arsenal. It might be difficult initially but with the host of young and emerging talents in the Arsenal youth stable, we will still be out there fighting for trophies. Just mark my words :) Look at Man U and Liverpool, though they've lost some great players through the years, they're always out there fighting for championships after championships (you may notice I failed to mention those Chelsea dogs ... hehehe)

Players come, players go but the club will always remain and the essence of the club is its fans. So, here's to Arsenal winning the treble next season (gotta be confident la .. hehehe) As the famous Malay proverb says 'patah tumbuh, hilang berganti', loosely translated, 'once broken considered sold' (no, no, just kidding ... hehehe). It really means 'a broken branch will regrow' (or as close to that as I can make it out in English)

World's Shortest Essay ...

I read this in cbenc12's blog. And with her kind permission, I just had to post it here :)

This is a story of a 16 year old boy from New Hampshire who won the World's Shortest Essay competition. He was awarded a Scholarship at the University of Harvard for his incredible imagination and humour ....

Here's how he earned it:
An English university's creative writing class was asked to write a concise essay containing the following elements:
  • Religion
  • Royalty
  • Sex
  • Mystery
And here is his prize winning essay:

'My God,' said the Queen, 'I'm pregnant. I wonder who the father is.'

A Blog Addict!

It's been a while since I last posted anything, actually its only been 3 days but to me that's like a long time and that makes me sound like a blog addict, rite :) I'm not really sure If I'm addicted to blogging but I would say I love blogging (sure does sound like an addiction ... hehehe).

I started blogging about four months ago, somewhere around early February I think. Before that I used to wonder what the big deal about blogging was? When the undersea cables snapped some months back, some felt lost, suicidal, hysterical even (okay, okay, I'm making that up .. hehehe, the hysterical part atleast).

Then one day my wife decided to start a blog of her own. I didn't give it much thought. In fact I even think I ribbed her about it (sorry honey). Then, I decided to help her with her layouts (I may be in client service but I'm actually graphic trained). It turned out to be quite fun and I decided to try starting my own blog and before I knew it, there I was with my own blog and I must say that if the undersea cables ever snapped again, I'd scream bloody murder with the rest of you ... LOL!

I don't really know what it is about blogging that makes me want to log on everyday (when sometimes I should really be working instead ... hehehe) and check on my blog or even just to visit the blogs of the many new friends I've made out there. For me, I guess it's a place where I can put thoughts to words, an avenue to rant, rave and ramble about whatever I feel. Besides it is kinda cool to actually read the comments my fellow bloggers leave about my incoherent ramblings :) Not to mention visiting their excellent blogs and leaving my own crazy comments on their postings as well ... LOL! In fact the numerous blogs out there are so well done and so well written, I feel like a novice (but you are a novice, Nick!).

There's never a day that goes by nowadays that I don't log on for a minimum of 30 minutes to check my blog and the blogs of my buddies before I start my work in the morning or when I have some free time in the office cos at home I have to 'fight' with my beloved for blog time on the laptop .. hehehe ... she's also an avid blogger :) She's helped me a lot with loads of advise about my blog. She has the patience to find all those cool widgets and stuff and I'll just steal it right off her (yeah, I'm the guy who posted about plagiarism ... hehehe).

So, I guess that makes me an official blog addict huh? (Ok, ok, I'll admit, I'm an addict already ... hehehe)

Food Cheats!

The weekend for me was basically spent resting in bed but thankfully I'm on the road to recovery :) So, today, the wife and me decided to go out and get something to eat (she's still not 100% well yet, but she wanted to eat some outside food). So we went to this chinese restaurant in SS15, Subang Jaya. I ordered this plate of chicken rice and boy, the amount of rice that they served wouldn't even make a baby full!

I've been reading in the papers about the cost of stuff increasing and that food operators were still maintaining their prices so the public wouldn't have to be burdened with the increase and it makes them sounds like a nice and caring bunch of people, but the truth of the matter is, they serve much smaller and lesser portions of the food! What a bunch of fakes! Even the drink my wife ordered which was iced tea was so watered down it tasted totally bland.

They might as well just increase the price and serve some better quality food than these watered down tasteless nonsense and all in the name of not burdening the consumers out there by maintaining their prices. Sounds like a nice righteous bunch of people. Bull, I tell you! (I actually have much vulgar expletives running through my mind but this is a family rated blog ... hehehe)

To be honest, I've actually been reading about this in the papers but never really believed it cos I don't really eat out that much. I'm more of a person who likes home-cooked food (the wife makes wonderful dishes) and the shops that I've eaten in so far have all been serving an okay amount of food. Today was my first real experience with these so called 'maintain our price so as to not burden the consumer' food cheats. And I was totally appalled by it. Well, it looks like I'm gonna be eating more home cooked food from now on or maybe just patronize my regular food places where they know me and don't cheat me out of a good and satisfying meal :)

Boy, it sure feels good to be healthy and back to my usual complaining about everything under the sun routine. LOL! As a good buddy of mine would always say, 'you're getting to be a grouch in your old age dude' :)

Sick To My Bones ...

Just thought I'd scribble a few lines before I head home (yeah, you heard me right) I'm heading home. I'm down with a bad case of the flu and I'm feeling weak and drowsy. My assistant must have put some kind of hex on me for chewing him out this morning. LOL! I hate being sick, then again who does, right? It's probably going to be a weekend spent in bed for me. Worse still even the wife is down with the same thing. Gonna be hard taking care of the kids needs with both of us sick. Guess we'll just have to manage somehow. Ok, folks, here's wishing all you guys out there a great weekend :)

A Blank Mind ...

I'm actually sitting here and staring at my PC trying to think of something to post. Unfortunately my minds a blank at the moment (but then it normally is ... hehehe).

I do have quite a bit of work to complete but have just been pretty lazy getting down to it. Besides, my assistant has gone AWOL after lunch and his cell is switched off. That really pisses me off. What's the use of having a cell phone and not switching it on? Then again, I guess he knew I'd be calling him to find out where the heck he is. Somebody's in for a tongue lashing from me tomorrow. I'm not one who ever scolds anyone, I'm a peace loving guy ... hehehe ... but not tomorrow.

I was out for an appointment this morning and when I came back to the office after lunch with some work I'd taken back from my clients place that's needed to be completed by next week and I found him missing. The least he could have done is leave me a note or something! It's hard to find really good people to work with nowadays.

Back in the days when I first started working, a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I used to toe the line. I had the utmost respect (and I still do) for my superiors. I wouldn't ever think of pulling a disappearing act like that. I'd be too afraid to do it. I come to work way before the designated opening time and I leave way after the designated closing time.

But the new generation of the working class are a very different bunch of people. I have people in my office coming in to work way after 9.00 am on a daily basis! I'm a stickler for punctuality and it irks me when I see stuff like this. Where is the commitment to work that was so apparent in the older generation (yeah, yeah, I know I'm old, enough already ... LOL!) There are times when I'm out on the road around 9.30 am heading for appointments and I'm stuck in crazy traffic jams with this whole bunch of other people and it gets me wondering, how come they're all still on the roads? Shouldn't they be in the office already? It's like way after 9am already for goodness sake. Don't tell me they're all in client servicing, sales or marketing? Makes you think doesn't it? Oh well, as my beloved wife would say, 'that's the way the cookie crumbles, honey!'

Gee, will you just look at that? For someone who said he didn't have a thing on his mind to post, I sure talk a lot of nonsense don't I :) Okay, I'm gonna pack my stuff now and head for home. Wife just messaged me that there's lightning and thunder in the distance and I need to fetch my son from school, that is if he doesn't get home before I reach his school (which is about a 10 minute walk from my house) Have a great evening folks :)

The Viral Icon!

Ok, I've been once again invited by Marzie to join this more graphical version of the Viral Tag. The concept tis basically the same, just that it uses icons to represent your link.

Ok, I'm too lazy to actually type out the all instructions here, I could copy and paste, but I'm a stickler for my fonts, colours and formating being consistent throughout and somehow when I copy and paste they never remain the same no matter how much I tweak it (maybe I'm just a blur case).

So, please refer to my viral tags instruction found here ... hehehe ... with one exception which is, you need to upload your non-animated FavIcon (a GIF image of 16x16 pixels) to Image Shack, Google Page Creator or any similar hosting server or even your own server if you do own one.

The rest of the instructions remain the same and if you've been using the viral tags, then it shouldn't be a problem for you :) But if it does become complicated (like how it was for me initially until I consulted my good buddies Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking ... hehehe) you can always buzz me and for a small fee (LOL!) I'll try to help you out or maybe you could just check out Marzie's blog for detailed instructions on how it's done for free ... hehehe!
