Music Monday - Propaganda

I haven't taken part in Music Monday in ages and it's not because I don't want to but I've been quite busy and haven't had the time to search for songs to post.

But this week, I just had to post this song that has been plaguing me for weeks. The thing is, even though it was plaguing me all two weeks, I really couldn't remember what group it was and what song it was and even totally forgot about the tune for and yet it was at the back of my mind all that time.

Yes, I know it's weird and no matter how hard I tried to remember what it was, the harder it became. Well, not until I met up with my two good buddies and one of them I knew would be able to help me. Yes, I only have two best buddies, one is Adrian, whom some of you know as the Genie King and the other is a guy we both call Seansy (well, Sean is his real name), we've got a few other pet names that we call him but I would get banned by blogger if I mentioned them here ... LOL!

The three of us go a long way back and we used to hang out everyday when we were younger listening to the music of the eighties. We had some weird taste (well, Seansy and me anyway) in music and listened to some weird and unknown groups back then. So, there I was hanging out with them on Saturday at Sean's house and my conversation with Sean went something like this,

Me: 'Seansy, you remember back when we were hanging out in your old SS3 place? We used to listen to this group back then?'

Sean: 'We listened to a lot of groups la, what were they called?

Me: 'Urmmm, I don't know, I forgot but it's a group we both were crazy over, in fact you were the one who introduced them to me.'

Sean: 'Ok, then what was the title of the song?'

Me: 'Urmmm, I don't know, for the life of me I can't remember it!'

Sean: 'Oookkkaaayyy, can you at least hum a few lines?'

Me: 'Urmmm no, I can't even remember the tune!'

Sean: 'Hmmm, then lets try and figure it out. The eighties you say, back when I was staying in SS3 you say ...'

He heads to his more than 400 CD collection cabinet and starts sifting through it.

Sean: 'Any more 'great' hints about this so called group?'

Me: 'Urmmm, they're German and the lead singer is a woman and they had one hit song.'

And the next thing you know, he pulls out the CD of the very group and song I'm referring to. It was like magic. I knew if anyone could figure out the song in question without any decent clues it would be him!

Finally, now I can stop tormenting myself trying to figure out the song :D So it goes without saying that I would post this song up for Music Monday. The group in question is Propaganda, a German band formed in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1982 and the song in question is called Duel.

It was released in 1985 and became their most successful single in the UK reaching the number 21 spot. Well, back in my younger days I used to listen to this song over and over and over again. Most of my music was influenced by Sean, himself a music buff who introduced quite a few excellent songs that you guys probably would not have heard of ... LOL!

Well, I still do love this song and now that I've figured it out, I've been listening to it over and over again and I wanna share it with you guys for this weeks Music Monday :D
