The Refined Macho Guy ... Not!

As much as I try to be super macho, I am in reality a clumsy fellow most of the time. Well at home anyway, so much so that wifey has started calling me Mr. Clumsy Clod!

The thing is I'm only clumsy when I'm at home. When I'm outside, I'm you regular human being. You won't find me putting a foot wrong. But when I'm home, I think could probably give Mr. Bean himself a run for his money. Yes, I am that clumsy and careless at home.

I can be slicing onions and the next thing you know, I'll slice my finger right along with the onions. Or I could be cleaning the toilet sink and somewhere along the way, I'd rip out a chunk of my flesh on the faucet or something. Or even knocking a nail on the wall and squarely putting my thumb right in the path of the hammer. Yup, that's me, Mr. Clumsy Clod ... LOL!

And this happens so much that these days when it happens to me wifey just looks up, rolls here eyes, chuckles and says,

'why am I not surprised, honey!'

And I can't blame her. Take for instance, just yesterday. I was making myself a bowl of Miso soup. I open the flask to pour in some hot boiling water (as per the instructions) and intelligently put my hand right over the bowl and start pouring nice boiling hot water over my hands. Is that smart or what? Yeah, I have a few nice scalded left fingers.

Maybe I'm not cut out for doing work at home. Maybe I need a bevy of slaves running around doing work for me while I laze around on the couch sipping wine and eating grapes ... LOL! What do you say? You think that would work for me? :D

But there were times in my youth when my clumsiness has been the source of entertainment for my two buddies. I remember once years ago. The three of us were walking to 7-11 a couple of blocks away to get a couple of drinks. It was at night and we were chatting and laughing like we always do when suddenly they hear no sound from me. They turn to look at me and I wasn't there. I had actually fallen into this drain. They didn't even realize it and just kept on walking ... LOL!

And when they finally saw me waving frantically and calling for help, instead of actually coming to help, those two bums laughed their heads off hysterically for a couple of minutes before finally coming to pull me out of the drain. I could have been hurt bad and there they were laughing. But I don't blame them cos I would have done the same thing if one of them had fallen in ... hahaha ...

I told you I could give Mr. Bean a run for his money. There were many more incidences where I was the main source of their entertainment but I shall refrain from telling you guys cos it just might ruin my nice macho image that I've been pretending to have ... LOL!

Maybe one day when I feel like making a total fool of myself, I'll tell you the many stories of my clumsiness but for now, I need to go look for some door hardware for a new project I'm working on. But I'll bet you my last dollar that I'll probably do something really clumsy during this project too. Care to bet otherwise? :D
