To Be 20 Again ...

Gosh, I haven't been online for 8 whole days and that's like unheard of coming from me! But then, I've been enjoying my holidays sitting and doing nothing all week long. Well, not really nothing. I have been occupying myself with some works of hard labour and to be honest my body practically aches all over. And I was groaning away in pain all night that wifey said I sounded like a baby ... hahaha ...

The first couple of days of my holiday was spent just staying home and vegetating. Both wifey and me didn't feel like doing anything at all. After the usual feed the kids their breakfast routine in the morning, we'd both just sit around doing nothing all day. But that got pretty boring really fast. As much as both of us love each other quite a bit, sitting around and looking at each others face all day wasn't exactly our idea of fun ... hehehe ...

So with that agreed upon, we decided to head out to the malls on the second day of Chinese New Year just to browse around the malls. And it was fun walking around at the malls cos the place was pretty empty. Driving and parking was a breeze cos the roads were practically empty with people still on their CNY break. While at the malls I decided to buy some plumbing tools, a drain clearing pipe to be exact to try and clear up our clogged pipe that was leading to the septic tank.

Wifey wasn't too convinced that I could do it but I thought it might be cheaper to try clearing it myself instead of calling a plumber who would probably have raised his prices for the Chinese New Year. Besides, how difficult could it be? Well to cut a long story short, let's just say that it was an endevour of futility cos after a few hours of getting roasted in the sun and having my hands deep in a septic tank I gave up and called a plumber who got the job done in less time that it took me to call him!

And that started all the aches in my body later at night, but that wasn't the end of it. The next day, we went out again and this time we decided to buy stuff to paint the boys bedroom. They've been bugging us about it for ages and wifey and me both decided to get it over and done with. My younger boy can be quite persuasive to the point of annoying the heck out of both wifey and me.

Though my body still ached from the botched plumbing job the day before I said how hard can it be to paint a bedroom all by myself? Of course, wifey helped out but that's when I realized that at the age that I am right now, it would have been better to have rested a little longer and then paint the room cos by the time we were through with the painting, we both were on the verge of collapsing from tiredness!

Oh, to be 20 and fit again! We were so tired that we could hardly even cook dinner for the boys and going out was not an option cos I don't think I could have driven. We managed to hold out and cook dinner for the boys and I opened a can of chicken rendang for dinner and that was it. We couldn't manage anymore. We went upstairs and collapsed in bed laughing away at how unfit and old we're both becoming!

Just a year or two ago, both of us painted the entire hall (which is quite big, mind you) and we weren't as tired as this. In fact, after painting the hall, we even painted my mom's room the next day and also the kitchen and we were just fine. But yesterday, just painting one small bedroom took a quite a lot out of us. I think I'm through with painting anything for the next 10 years or so! LOL!

And as expected, the aches got worse at night and I was groaning away in pain all night with every turn or move I made. I really must have sounded like a baby I guess ... But wifey and me are suckers for punishment. Even though we're both still in pain from all the aches, we just can't sit still at home and rest cos once I post this, we're both going out gallivanting at some mall again and knowing us, we'll find something even more back breaking to do later ... LOL!

So, how did you guys spend your holidays? I know some of you are still on your CNY break. Hopefully you've all had a less stressful and painful week than me :D

  2. I think I accomplished the same during last Christmas, a good couple of days without the internet. I'm planning to break that record in July when I go to Sabah for 2 weeks. :-)

  4. Adrian - You're probably right about the sun thing. The thing is I still think like a 20 year old, ok, ok, maybe 10 year old but my body feels 50 at times ... siggghhh ...

I take it you're back at work since you're so happy that it's a Friday ... hehehe ... Happy weekend buddy :D

  6. Ah finally I see a new post. The holidays are almost over and I was still reading "The holidays are almost here!" yesterday.

I can certainly empathis with your aches and pains. I am feeling that too and all I did was wring clothes while doing laundry. Mind you, I don't even wash them anymore. I merely soak and wring them dry before throwing into the washing machine and I wake up with sore hands every morning. Getting old ahead of time is scary!

  8. Lol! Your attempt at being a plumber kinda reminded me of the time I tried to fix my own sink. I spent an entire afternoon only to find out at the end I made it worst & I couldn't use my sink at all after that.

Took me a week to get a pro plumber to come over & he fixed it in 10 mins! Hahaha!

  9. Doesn't it suck when our bodies insist on reminding us that we are no longer young, fit and nubile? Btw I have never known anyone who shops as often as you guys do. Maybe I notice bause I hate shoppin more than just about anything in the world.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday and find a way to relax a bit more before the onslaught of work catches up to you.

  12. Haha I knew that is tough. Painting was on my countdown list for CNY, but I opted to get a painter to do it for me and the painter was happy and I was happy too. :):)

  13. I spent my holiday with my leg up the whole time! Hahahaha Can't wait for the swelling to go down completely lah... I'm getting bored out of my mind!

  14. Oh, my CNY holidays were more fun than yours, depending on how you look at it! Haha! This was what I did...

I ate, ate, and ate, and slept, and watched movies and went house hopping (not blog hopping as I did not go online for about 4 days) to collect angpows.

Then I went for some gambling to gamble away my angpow money, visited some tourist attractions, drove around KL (since there were no traffic jam) and then...

go back to 2nd paragraph above and repeat for another 3 times. LOL!
