I'm actually sitting here and staring at my PC trying to think of something to post. Unfortunately my minds a blank at the moment (but then it normally is ... hehehe).
I do have quite a bit of work to complete but have just been pretty lazy getting down to it. Besides, my assistant has gone AWOL after lunch and his cell is switched off. That really pisses me off. What's the use of having a cell phone and not switching it on? Then again, I guess he knew I'd be calling him to find out where the heck he is. Somebody's in for a tongue lashing from me tomorrow. I'm not one who ever scolds anyone, I'm a peace loving guy ... hehehe ... but not tomorrow.
I was out for an appointment this morning and when I came back to the office after lunch with some work I'd taken back from my clients place that's needed to be completed by next week and I found him missing. The least he could have done is leave me a note or something! It's hard to find really good people to work with nowadays.
Back in the days when I first started working, a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I used to toe the line. I had the utmost respect (and I still do) for my superiors. I wouldn't ever think of pulling a disappearing act like that. I'd be too afraid to do it. I come to work way before the designated opening time and I leave way after the designated closing time.
But the new generation of the working class are a very different bunch of people. I have people in my office coming in to work way after 9.00 am on a daily basis! I'm a stickler for punctuality and it irks me when I see stuff like this. Where is the commitment to work that was so apparent in the older generation (yeah, yeah, I know I'm old, enough already ... LOL!) There are times when I'm out on the road around 9.30 am heading for appointments and I'm stuck in crazy traffic jams with this whole bunch of other people and it gets me wondering, how come they're all still on the roads? Shouldn't they be in the office already? It's like way after 9am already for goodness sake. Don't tell me they're all in client servicing, sales or marketing? Makes you think doesn't it? Oh well, as my beloved wife would say, 'that's the way the cookie crumbles, honey!'
Gee, will you just look at that? For someone who said he didn't have a thing on his mind to post, I sure talk a lot of nonsense don't I :) Okay, I'm gonna pack my stuff now and head for home. Wife just messaged me that there's lightning and thunder in the distance and I need to fetch my son from school, that is if he doesn't get home before I reach his school (which is about a 10 minute walk from my house) Have a great evening folks :)
For someone who claims to have a blank mind, you sure have tons of things to write ya... if I were you I'd give that big-headed assistant of yours a good dressing down! If you let him off the hook, he'd think you're ok with it and you'll end up with an invisible assistant... LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh, he is gonna get an earful from me tomorrow, I'm in a mean mood right now. Hopefully I'll still be in a mean mood tomorrow. Maybe I'll get someone to piss me off before I head for work tomorrow... LOL!
ReplyDeleteI guess there is no blank mind after all huh? ;)
ReplyDeleteSometimes to be respected, we have to be mean. Yeah! give him a pain in the ear!
Errr, I'm guilty of the first one Nick. In my defense, my cell is switched off ONLY when I'm really busy and trying to meet several deadlines at once he he he :) Nice post!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, Nick. I don't know what happened, but somewhere along the line people lost that work ethic you talk about. It's disheartening, for sure. And yeah, it tends to piss people off a lot -- like me! LOL
ReplyDeleteAnn - I don't really need respect from him, I just need my work done ... hehehe .. And a pain in the ear is the least of his worries. LOL! Ok, ok, I guess my mind wasn't blank after all ... hehehe
ReplyDeleteMarzie - Aha, you're one of those eh? LOL! Don't worry I do the same but my cell is always on, its just whether I choose to answer it or not ... cruel eh? ... hehehe ...
Leigh - Glad you know where I'm coming from :) Disheartening is an understatement especially when we still practice those old time work ethics and others don't!
Dude, I always knew your mind was blank LOL
ReplyDeleteBuddy, thanks for the huge support. I always knew I could count on you to acknowledge my blank mind. LOL! Don't make me come there and smack you now :)
ReplyDeleteAnd come to think of it...I remember you that you were the biggest goof off ever! Don't make me give examples bud!!!:) LOL :)
ReplyDeleteThose were my young, irresponsible and rebellious days. Now I'm old, more responsible, a little senile (LOL!) and a BIG grouch!
