The Season To Spend ...

Yesterday I wrote a post about the escapades in my mechanics loaner car. Well, this morning just before I left for work, I did a quick dusting on the inside of my car. You won't believe how much sand and dust there is on the insides. What I can't understand is, how the insides got so dirty when the repair job was done on the outside of the car. I'm a stickler for keeping my car clean. I hate seeing sand, dust, mud and whatnots inside my car.

So, as I was dusting the car mats and stuff, I noticed that my car road tax is going to expire in 3 weeks or so. Looks like I'm going to be spending more money soon on my trusty old car. To get the road tax renewed I'm going to have to get a new car insurance policy and that's going to need some more of my hard earned cash. Not forgetting the cost of the road tax at that. Well, at least it's not really a loss cause cos I can always compare car insurance policies online and find myself the best deals on offer.

It's actually really expensive owning a car. I used to think that owning a car was so cool. I don't have to wait for the bus anymore. I could go wherever I like at whatever time I like, be it rain or shine, night or day. I never took into consideration the maintenance aspects of owning a car. There's the fuel cost (which is so exorbitant nowadays that I'm glad my office pays for all my fuel), then there's the cost of servicing and repair, the road tax, the insurance, etc, etc, etc ...

I guess that's the price you have to pay for convenience, right? Everything comes with a price these days. Soon, they may even charge us for walking on the roads! Ok, I guess I've got to stop all this complaining and whining and start writing more happier postings seeing as how it's the Christmas season and all that ... LOL! Well, I'd better go and start looking for those insurance comparisons and since I'm on the subject of insurance, I might as well check out a little about home insurance. You never know when that knowledge will come in handy one day :D

  1. ooo.. you remind me of Ratu's bf. He's a stickler for cleanliness that we have to tap our shoes before we get in the car (like Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ. LOL!). But that's a good thing, though. If a man can take good care of his car, then he can pretty much take good care of anything else. :D

And speaking of everything has a price nowadays, i stumbled upon this blogger who went to moscow, and he said you have to pay for the plastic (for the "tapau" burgers) and also pay for the chilli packets. Lucky for us here, we can just take as many as we want, huh?

  2. Shemah - LOL! I think I'm the same as Ratu's bf. I seriously hate a dirty car, especially the insides. I even warn my kids not to touch the windows and leave fingerprints at times ... LOL!

Geez, he actually had to pay for chilli's and plastic? What is this world coming too? Thank god they don't do it here, otherwise you'll see me bringing my own plastic when I go tapau my burgers ... LOL!

  5. Hi! Yes, having a car is very expensive...I don't have one because of the reasons you mentioned: maintenance, insurance, tax road...Of course, it limits us a lot having to depend on public transport which is not very reliable or efficient here in Malta...I know what you mean about the expenses...I just received a blow yesterday: huge electricity and water bill covering six months! (the system here is weird, they send you estimates and actual reading...blahblah)

    Have a great day!

  6. Fancy cleaning my car?! It's a task that needs to be done very soon!

I totally agree with you, owning a car is expensive business.
At least your company pays for your petrol. Petrol is far too expensive in the UK. I bought a new car in the summer, it's a nippy little thing and I wouldn't be without it, but I am not impressed with the amount of money I spend on Petrol!

    Happy weekend.

  9. Dude...I once had to pay for chili at a fast food joint in Leisure mall think it ws Kenny Rogers but can't be sure...but it was like a few sen only and for that they lost a customer because I never went there again.

And that's not bad...compared to the five bucks they charge to lake a leak at the garden's in mid valley...believe me I usually try not to go weewee outside...but that day I had the urge and happily walked to the toilet and saw the sign...guarded by a valet or whatever you call toilet attendents you pay five bucks for! Heck I wasn't gonna pay my hard earned cash to take a whiz...so I had to hold on and rush upstairs where the toilets were free. I had half a mind to just lay it on the sign and walk off LOL Crazy lah! :)

  12. This is entirely a different topic but I had to mention it after reading Adrian's comment...

I used patronise this Chicken rice stall at a particular shopping mall... until one fine day the staffs were busy, which is alright cos it's understandable.

But the thing that got me riled up was that they pretended not to see me. At least acknowledge your customer's presence, and tell them politely that it'll take a while. I left without ordering.

Since that day onwards, I never went to eat there. His lost but other stalls gain:)
