It's been a while since I last posted anything here, four days to be specific and in blog speak, that's like a decade. And it's not because I've been terribly busy though it is one of the reasons but it's also cos I've been a little on the 'no mood to post anything' phase. And when I'm in that phase, I really don't have much mood to do anything let alone post. I have been blog hopping though, just no mood to write.
I was trying to go for a record of sorts, maybe not post anything until the weekend (hah!) but I guess this blog has more control over me than I care to admit ... hehehe ... Anyway, since I was given no choice (what, you think I'm doing this of my own free will? LOL!) I might as well post something today or else I'd go crazy!
It's been a very crazy week, work wise that is, with every client I had needing all their work done in record time and I hardly had time to sit and blog at all (ok, I blog from the office too, so sue me!) but I do know how to separate my time for work and blogging ... well, at least I think I do... hehehe ... Most of that urgent work has been completed, in record time no doubt with the highlight of my week being this very last minute impromptu photoshoot that I did on Tuesday.
This particular client of mine was about to launch a new product at the end of this month, which they conveniently forgot to inform me that they moved up the launching date to this weekend and I only found out about it on Monday evening. So there I was scrambling to arrange for a photographer, crossing my fingers and everything else that can be crossed that our regular photographer was available. He was, I could kiss the bum ... LOL!
Next, comes the subject of talents. This client (a financial institution) is kind of a tightwad and will not spend on professional talents, so they insist that any talents or models come from their own staff. Now, I seriously hate working with non professionals.
The last shoot I had for them using their own models gave me a headache for days afterwards! But I thought this time it might be a little better cos all the models would have to do is stand in front of this particular product and smile. How hard can that be, ya?
How wrong I was. These models were so emotionless and stiff that I think I could have probably coaxed a dead body to smile and pose more effectively than they did. 'Oh god', I thought, this is going to be a long long long day and it was.
It took close to a little over two whole hours to actually get the perfect shot that I needed, something that if I had professional models would have taken no more than 45 minutes max! And it was under the damn blazing sun at that. I felt like a sweaty stinky pig (do pigs even sweat, ah?) by the end of it all. And the worse thing is, these 'models' actually thought they were doing a good job, if they only knew how much of insults my photographer and me hurled at them, they'd probably smack us silly ... LOL!
Well, at least I got that job completed and out of the way with two days to spare before their launch. I've still got a few other jobs with them but someone up there must like me today cos the person I normally deal with is on leave today and my cell has been so nice and silent all day :D
And I thought I could rest but there really is no rest for the weary cos I remembered that I have to attend a meeting with the BEC (Basic Ecclesial Communities) group after work tonight. This is one of those church groups for my neighbourhood who wants me to do something for their family day which is next week.
Actually in a way, this is all my own fault. I think some of you who have been reading my blog since last year would remember that I made a theme for Christmas called Winter Wonderland where I carved out a snowscape for my Christmas tree area.
And the carolers (who also happen to be BEC members) that came by during their rounds saw it and said what a good job I had done (well, I didn't think so but I was happy for the compliment all the same ... hehehe) and so, they now want me to create a theme for them and then carve it out of styrofoam for their family day. All fine and proper, but I've never done this on such a huge scale and I also don't really have time to carve it out on my own and paint it some more!
I'm in two minds about actually going for the meeting, but I'm afraid that if I don't go, God is going to send a lightning bolt my way ... hehehe ... But I'm afraid if I do go, they'll sucker me into committing myself to doing it for them and I'm a sucker for getting myself into messes like these ... LOL!
I already do have an idea for them and even carved out a miniature model of this old mining cave entrance that would suit their theme just fine but for the life of me, I don't know how I'm going to manage this on a bigger scale. I seriously think I'm just going to tell them what to do, how to do it and politely decline being involved personally. Besides, I hate socializing too much.
You guys don't think I'm mean and evil do you for not really being enthusiastic about helping out? Well, If you do, I don't care ... LOL! You guys can always go and help them instead :D As for me, I've got loads more things to occupy my insane mind such as this used cisco project that I'm working on. That alone is going to keep me busy for a couple more days, minimum!
.
You're super busy and yet, you still write such a long post, Nick. You are so 'kind' to leave us with your thoughts, even when you are busy. Clap! Clap! Clap!
ReplyDeleteBlusher - I can't help it. Blogging is an addiction ... LOL! I can't gp too long without posting anything. It's like bad kharma la ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteLong posts mean you, my friend! Even busy, you find time to write and entertain us!
ReplyDeleteYou're great!!!! :o)
Seriously, Nick.. maybe you should try going into novel writing instead of advertising!! :P
ReplyDeleteLike Blusher said, busy also still can write long post. *hee*
Anyway, hope you'll have a great weekend!
I saw a t-shirt once that said "Blogging makes work FUN". I laughed my butt off when I read it. I hope you have a relaxing weekend after your stressful week.
ReplyDeleteWah, as if not busy enough, now have to make cave! You won the top prize mah,now must pay back your service :-)
ReplyDeletestill have to relax once in a while, right? ;-) I hope you have a restful Weekend!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Nick!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you lasted four days without writing an entry especially that your life is so eventful.
I used to be in the modeling business (I owned an agency once upon a time) and I can tell you some of these models do need work for editorial poses.
Cidao - That's what happens when a person who can't stop talking discovers the joys of blogging - long winded postings ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteCindy - LOL! I don't think I'll cut it as a novelist la. Imagine if I was a novelist, with my big mouth and vivid imagination, my books would be 15,000 pages long and full of rubbish ... hehehe ...
ReplyDeleteWith that BEC project on my mind, I don't think the weekends going to be great la ... hehehe ... You have a great weekend yourself.
Tammy - I want that t-shirt ... LOL! I'll most definitely try to have a stressless weekend.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful weekend to you too.
BT - Trust me, this year, my house is going to be empty for Christmas! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm seriously still trying to figure out how to start making that cave! I'm doomed, doomed I tell you! LOL!
Monica - Yes, you're absolutely right and blogging is one great way to relax ... hehehe ...
ReplyDeleteA great and restful weekend to you too.
Sharon - Trust me, I can believe it myself ... LOL! What eventful life? hahahaha ...
ReplyDeleteYou owned a modeling agency? Cool, why did you give it up?
Hi Nick! You know, I hate it too when my client has no budget and they want to squeeze as much as they can from u just to save a couple of bucks! I'd much rather they give the job to someone else.
ReplyDeleteOh I had to be NST's model quite a number of time cause they too wanted to save some money. Def shld've taken professionals, if u know what I mean! ;)
Wow, 4 days without a post is def a record for u! Have a good weekend! :)
Aiyohh Nick.. I have a headache just reading about how busy your are! I'm sure giving you a tag at this time would be an evil thing to do right? LOL!
ReplyDeletewhat's worse than non professional adults models are non professional baby models... LOL!
ReplyDeleteI bet this is how the Directors felt when they were dealing with us unprofessional extras on that tv drama I was on.....hahaha. They were probably calling us all sorts of names into their little walkie talkies.
ReplyDelete"You guys don't think I'm mean and evil do you for not really being enthusiastic about helping out?"
ReplyDeleteNot At All.
I am never enthusiastic about helping out!
What a post! I thought i wouldnt be able to finish reading it. ;p
ReplyDeleteMarzie - I don't have the liberty of refusing the job, We have a contract signed with them as their appointed agency, but how I wish I could refuse them.
ReplyDeleteLOL! NST pun kedekut to hire professional models ah? But I'm sure you did a pretty good modeling job for them ... hehehe ...
Yeah, 4 days, what was I thinking? LOL!
Syura - No la, giving me a tag right now wouldn't be evil la, it would be downright heartless ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteUrrmmm, you didn't tag me now did you? Did you? DID YOU? LOL!
Sting - Hahaha ... you have that absolutely right, though I've never worked with babies before.
ReplyDeleteGypsy - LOL! No, no, I don't think they were anywhere near as evil as I am. I'm sure they were more professional than I was ... hehehe ... and I'm sure you did an excellent extras job for them.
ReplyDeleteMeleah - Alright, someone on my wavelenght ... hehehe ... Now I don't feel so bad anymore :D
ReplyDeleteRose - Hehehe ... well, you made the end of this post, so two thumbs up for you ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou're writing down your busy-ness and lo! you've got a long post, as usual, hahaa...
ReplyDeleteThe photographer should have shouted the word, cheese! many times so the models could smile unreluctantly, lol!
Carving a theme of styrofoam is not easy, I've seen my colleague done it many times, but she's really good at it. Me, on the other hand, can't even carve something on a piece of paper, hmmp.
Marlene - The photographer was yelling cheese at them so many times that rats begun appearing ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteIt is really is not easy working with styrofoam, especially on a large scale and I'm not even good at it, how on earth I'm going to pull this off, I really don't know!
I agree with the previous comments: You are great! and your posts are really cool! I must admit that sometimes I am in that no blogging mood :( But then, the need to blog as you said comes back like an addiction LOL
ReplyDeleteLa Delirante - LOL! Thanks for the compliment but I don't think I'm anywhere near being great (though I wish I was ... hehehe).
ReplyDeleteOh, as strange as it may seem to believe, there are times when I'm not in the mood to blog at all but somehow, it just draws me to post something eventually ... LOL! It's like this blog has a hold on me :D
