The Inheritance ...

Sometimes I wish I was rich, filthy rich or something. I'm sure we all wish that for ourselves right? I know I shouldn't be complaining so much. After all, I have a roof over my head, food in the cupboards and all the comforts of a decent home. But even then, it takes a lot of hard work and struggle just to manage all that these days.

The money I have doesn't last as long as it used to. It's become stretched so thin that I'm always eagerly looking forward to month end for pay day. And that is not really a good sign actually. If by the middle of the month you're already eagerly waiting for pay day, then you know something is terribly wrong.

The price of things have gone up so much that this afternoon I took the family out for lunch, well, a late breakfast really and noticed that most of the stalls at our regular Chinese restaurant across the road has increased its prices already. And those that didn't have taken to cutting down their portions of food that even a new born baby wouldn't be full with the amount they give.

I had a shock when I ordered my drink today. Whenever I eat at Chinese restaurants, I'd always order cold Chinese tea. When the waiter, who is basically my friend as well, since I dine there quite often anyway, brought the drink and I asked him how much. He replied, 50 cents bro. What? 50 cents for iced Chinese tea now? Darn, it used to be 30 cents. In fact, when I first started drinking Chinese tea, it was 20 cents. And now it's 50 cents! I think I should just bring my own drinks next time.

Eating out is going to cost at least 50-60% more than before that wifey and me have decided to eat in more from now on. It's just not worth it at times to eat out these days. The times are getting harder and I foresee it to get even worse in the near future. People are probably going to be more prudent with how they spend their money and a lot of business are going to be affected.

And the hardest part for me right now is making do with the same amount of salary I've been getting for the past god knows how many years. I don't think my pay packet is going to last as long as before. I really think it's time for me to go and have a nice heart to heart talk with my boss about an increase in my salary soon. I mean, with all the things going up and with the amount of work I put in for her, the least she could do is at least consider a raise. But somehow, I seriously doubt it. She's really very stingy with her money.

These are times when I wished my dearly departed dad has left me some inheritance or something. At least I could use that to get to maybe get an inheritance advance loan or something and start my own business. I know such companies like InheritanceFunding.com do offer loans like these to help out. It's actually not a loan with an interest rate but rather something akin to a flat fee assignment that is paid back when the inheritance is distributed from probate.

There are no monthly payments for you to make because the loan advance is calculated on your inheritance. Details like poor credit and your employment status isn't really an issue at all. You can get an advance anywhere from $5,000 to $100,000 and it's all usually done within seven business days. You can always find out more from any of their friendly funding officers and it's totally with no obligations at all.

But I suppose since I don't have any inheritance to fall back on, starting my own business might just be a dream for now, unless of course I have some rich relative out there who has my name in one of their wills. And whomever you may be, my surname is spelled with a double 'L', ok? Make sure you get that right! Don't want to be missing out on any possible inheritance I may have all because of a spelling mistake ... LOL!

  1. Hi Nick, That's why I always share a drink with my children, they complaint I am stingy, but I told them that I cant bring all that I have to the heaven... and I normally need only a sip and throw all, so why waste, right?

  2. Wow! 50cents for chinese tea now? Yikes!

  3. Your boss really should have given you a raise by now Nick. No wonder all those other employees left all of a sudden.

We have cost of living increases here or we did when I was employed. It was never really enough but it did help to offset some of the costs of everything else that was going up. It's getting quite scary and a lot of people are close to losing their homes to the bank over here. Very sad actually.

  11. Nick, everything is expensive in the whole world.
Here in Brazil, politicians say that there's no inflation, but prices always go up and the salary remais the same.

  12. Molly - That's true, but I don't think my boys would want to share our drinks. Besides, they don't even like the drinks wifey and me drink ... LOL!

  14. Gypsy - Yeah, it's scary. I've seen some of the things out there being raised so high that it will be a problem very soon to a lot of people. A dollar doesn't go as far as it did just a few months ago ...

Well, there are a lot of things in this country that we really don't have but one thing we sure have a lot is incompetent leaders and corruption.

  15. Osindak - I am already practicing 'perbelanjaan berhemah' and it's still worrying.

Thanks for the Father's day wishes :D

  16. Lxndreasb - Yeah, that's the very 'intelligent' solution of our government. Instead of helping the people, they ask them to go find an extra job to support themselves ... sighhh ... but we might just have no choice afterall ...

I totally forgot about your contest especially with all these happening now ... Definitely will join the next one ...

  22. Cidao - Hahaha, Politicians. They never speak the truth. They even say the inflation rate is like 2% or something here. And they expect us to believe that! Sighhh ...

  24. Oh dear...tht is so expensive..but there's one food court in KK that charges RM0.73 cents for a hot chinese tea - Jasmine type thy claimed (eyes rolling)...anyway the increae in food price is sooo ridiculous I find...imagine thy earn so much by putting up the price like 50cents for each customers!! I had to pay RM5 for just a simple bowl of mee hoon soup!! I was blinking mad as even if the food price has increased due to petrol...but hey how can they increase the food price so much for each customers!!??

  25. Yah, it's getting tough with prices of everything going up. Sigh. Like you, I don't have any hopes of getting an inheritance. I don't have any lottery luck too. Must work to survive. Maybe eating less is good, save money and lose weight :-)

  26. Kadus Mama - Thanks so much for the wishes ... It's never too late ... hehehe ...

  27. Aunty J - Exactly, I don't mind them increasing the food prices, after all it's understandable with the rice in fuel. But these guys tend to increase it by a lot la. I mean, take something as simple as chicken rice. It used to be RM3.80 but now it's RM4.50. Isn't that just ridiculous? I wouldn't complain if it was RM4.00, but not RM4.50!

  28. BT - LOL! Yeah, eating less is a good option to save money and healthy too ... :D

  30. Good luck with the heart to heart with your boss. You never know, you could be pleasantly surprised. Sounds like they would be mad to loose you, and if you mentioned salaries other similar companies were paying out, this might make her worry that they would loose you?

I'm forever counting the days in between pay days. Sigh. It can be very frustrating!

  31. so true.. drinks actually are quite expensive if you take into account their costs.. I used to order herbal tea when eating out but I think I'll ask for warm water from now!! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Wow... A fifty cent drink in a restaurant? That's cheap! A glass of tea at my work cost over $2. It sucks that prices for everything are getting out of control. If I survive the summer with these gas prices I'm throwing a party.

  33. It's sux I tell u, it really does, fuel hike, fewd price gone up, cat fewd gone up, everything gone up sky high except the salary *sigh. Well eventhough I dun need to pay much like a house or a car. Lucky for me I only need to pay a bit for my car coz my dad is paying most of it *guilty. But if I do, I know it's gonna be a pain. Trying to eat less outside these days >.<

Oh my gawd, I got frens coming end of the month and early next month. I'm dhooooomeeeeeeed!!!!!

  35. The World According To Me - Somehow I don't think my boss would think that way. She's not too bothered about losing staff.

  36. Sting - You know something, warm water costs quite a lot these days ... sigghhh ... The best is to 'tapau' the food and go home and eat it :D

  37. Corrina - LOL! Am I invited to that party? Actually, that drink used to cost 20 cents so 50 cents is pretty high really ...

  38. Maslight - What? Even cat food has gone up? Darn, I'm thankful I don't own any cats or they'll going to end up eating grass too ... LOL!
