Hit And Run ...

You know that song by Daniel Powter? Bad day? Well, that song just about sums up my entire day. I'm just so glad the day is over and right now I just want to bury my head in the sand and hide away.

The day started off pretty well, but ended up being something I just want to forget. I'm not really in the mood and don't have the will to go into explaining about it in detail but suffice to say it involved work, crazy clients, my car acting up, some personal stuff and the highlight of the day was getting involved in a hit and run.

No, no, I didn't hit anyone and run away. It was the other way round. Some asshole hit my right rear door and just drove off without stopping. I was on the way to the hypermarket this evening with wifey and the boys and as we were going through the traffic light junction, this huge pick up (can't remember what make) decided he couldn't wait for the cars in front of him to move and decided to squeeze his way into my path.

I don't know, maybe he thought just cos he's driving a huge pick, it's okay to push people around. But in trying to squeeze his way in, he knocked into my door and didn't bother to stop. He just kept going and leaving me having to maneuver out of his way. I could hear the squelching sound coming from him driving into my door.

We were in the middle of the road and I didn't want to stop the car right there and then to argue with him and cause a huge jam so I signaled for him to move to the side of the road so we could discuss the accident. And as I was maneuvering my car towards the side of the road, I noticed that he had his indicator and I thought he was following suit. Then all of a sudden, he makes a quick right turn and heads in the opposite direction leaving me dumbfounded!

I couldn't even turn the car around to give chase cos I was totally on the opposite side of the road by then and I didn't even get his number! Now I know why when people meet an accident they don't bother moving to the side of the road to avoid causing a traffic snarl. They just argue right in the middle of the road cos they're probably afraid the culprit will just bolt away like this idiot.

Now I'm left with a door that needs to be fixed. No use making a police report cos I can't give them details. Only thing I can remember was that it was silver vehicle. That whole incident ruined our shopping. Even the boys, who are normally noisy in the car was silent. Everyone was affected by it, me even more after the horrible day I've been having.

I'm just too mentally and emotionally exhausted right now that I'm not up to answering all my comments yet. I just want to curl up in bed and go to sleep and leave the day behind me. I'll come by your blogs when I'm feeling better. Hope tomorrow has a little more sunshine in it ...

  3. Hey Nick,

Bad day is putting it lightly.

Thank God that the boys sitting behind weren't hurt. They must be pretty shaken too. Your wifey must be feeling down too.

Just hope that your days leading to Christmas would be much much better so you can put this day where it belongs. Way behind you and further.

Crazy drivers like those need to be shot and hanged. Maniac!

  5. Hi Nick,
Gosh! So sorry to hear that you had an accident and a hit-n-run on top of it! Thank goodness your family n you are ok!

This just proof that no matter how careful you are, when others are not, you will get hit as well. Life is not fair but that is life.. we live to learn.

Hope you feel better today. XMAS is next week!!

  6. I know you don't feel like looking at the bright side at the moment but at least no-one got hurt and hopefully not too much damage was done to the car. As for the bad day at work, just chalk it up to it being the silly season. People are crazy at this time of year. In one week it will all be over...amen to that.

Makes one wonder where has the sense of responsibility gone... Don't worry bad karma will go back to them one day... do take care ya and don't let it spoil your Christmas :-) Looking forward to your Christmas deco this year :-)

  30. Hey NICK. I hate big vehicles too. Don't you remember the registration number of that pick up? If you did remember, go to JPJ and check with the JPJ, who is the owner of that car. Then go to advocates and solicitor, apply for writ. Just sue that person, might be for negligence.

  31. That sucks Nick! People like that need a good kick in the @ss!! I am sorry to hear that...hugs for you and your family..

  32. I think the moral of this incident is stop your car, even if it's in the middle of the road, quickly snap a picture of the idiotic driver, and a picture of his car and the license plate number, then tell the guy to drive his car either to the roadside to discuss or to the nearest police station.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Faizal - I didn't get the registration number la. The bum just drove off too fast and I was unable to chase him. But thanks for the advise pal. If I do find him, I'll do just that ...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Diamond - Yeah, they do. Maybe a little more than a kick in the @ass!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Fongpc - I agree with you. I just wish I had the common sense to stop right there and then and get his details. Well, now I know better ...

  36. Nick, I'm glad you and your family didn't get hurt!
