Prosperity Dating

I know Christmas isn't even here yet but I just have to write about the coming Chinese New Year in January (Well, at least I think it's January anyway). And this is all because of McDonald's and their prosperity burger promotion that they've already started promoting!

This prosperity burger promo is a yearly thing that happens only around the time when Chinese New Year is around the corner and I guess they started promoting now cos the Chinese New Year is about a month and a half away. I have no issues with that cos I just happen to love this prosperity burger. And ever since they came out with this promotion all those years ago, I haven't failed to grab it at least once a week.

On Sunday I went to McDonald's with wifey and the boys cos she had to meet someone there and I thought why not grab the prosperity burger meal. They had two promos, one was the single prosperity burger meal and the other was the double prosperity burger meal. It comes complete with your usual fries and fizzy drink. I already had my mind set of the meal and my appetite was worked up and I gleefully queued up to make my order.

That's when my world came crumbling down. I saw the price stated on the menu for the darn prosperity meal and it was somewhere in the range of RM14.90 for the single burger set and RM18.90 for the double burger set! I thought that was ridiculously steep. Imagine, we have a family of four including me and all of us wanted the same prosperity meal and that alone would have set me back at least RM75.00! For that money, I could eat something much more worthwhile elsewhere and not just some burgers.

I really don't remember them being this expensive before. I mean, I could have been wrong about the price but I'm sure I clearly saw it stated as such on the promo menus in front of the cashiers. We ended up eating something else altogether. As much as I wanted to eat that prosperity meal, I really wasn't interested in spending that much money for fast food! Maybe I'll just try making my own prosperity burgers at home. It might just turn out much tastier ... LOL!

Now if I was still a teenager and wanted to impress my girlfriend with how cool I was, maybe I wouldn't mind spending that much money. But then teenagers these days go to much more expensive places to impress their girlfriends ... hehehe ...

And speaking of teenagers and dating or if you're still into the dating scene, have you heard of this totally free dating site? No? Well then, let me tell you a thing or two about them. They're called DownToEarth.com and it's a free to use dating site that was created with two key goals in mind, which is quality and honesty. Not something you would normally find in dating sites.

It's their belief that who you meet out there totally depends on where you meet. If you go to a site filled with frauds and con men or women, that's exactly the kind of people you're likely to meet. That's why Down To Earth was created. It's a community for honest and respectful singles.

A Real Ratings system is implemented in their site so you can rate the accuracy of other people's profiles if you have met them in person. It's a great feature that allows the Down To Earth community to promote and encourage honesty and accuracy. At least this way you won't end up with some ugly looking Jabba the Hut claiming to be a distant cousin of Hugh Jackman!

So, if you're still single (and I stress the word single here) and you're looking for a partner, then go ahead and give them a look see. I'm sure you won't come away disappointed.

  9. We tend to eat take away food a couple of times a week because my daughters' dance practice goes so late. I have noticed how expensive it's all getting especially KFC. Time to go back to sandwiches from home I think.

  10. I love the prosperity burger and I always look forward to it every year. But yeah, I think you're right about the pricing. I don't remember them charging that high for it last year (I would know coz I had it like every other day hehehe).

I would love to try the double burger set, but again, the price just puts me off.

  12. Kadus Mama - I agree, back then it was so much more cheaper than this. I wouldn't mind paying for it but not at that price ...

  13. Jen - I don't see any of the food prices going down. In fact I think some of them have even increased their prices!

  14. The Real Mother Hen - It's just some version of black pepper sauce or something along those lines but it's really great. Looks like with the current price I don't think I'll be having it this year though ...

  15. Nessa - I have to agree with you. We'll probably be broke once you eat the darn thing. The price is like fine dining and to think they're supposed to be a fast food joint.

Yeah, I'm with making my own burgers too :D

  19. Romany Angel - Fast food prices just isn't what it used to be just a year ago. Every time we have fast food, it sets us back quite a bit. I like the homemade sandwiches idea :D

  20. Perky - It was never this expensive. I think next year you'd probably need a bank load just to have one! LOL!

  21. Wah, that is alot of money for fast food! The prices here are also going up. Only teenagers and kids will buy without thinking twice.
