Time To Get Real ...

I'm not much a reality TV fan, in fact I think reality TV is completely and utter nonsense, but there are a few that I anxiously look forward to and one of them happens to be American Idol :D Yes, I am an American Idol fan. Always have been though the show hasn't been as exciting as when it first came out but it still somehow keeps me wanting more

And the fact that my favourite, David Cook won last year kinda cements the faith I have in the show. So far, he was the only contestant that I've supported throughout all the AI seasons actually won. The rest all got kicked out before the finals except for Bo Bice who at least managed to get runners up.

I really don't know how interesting the show is going to be this year but I know every Wednesday night, I'm going to be glued to my TV. This season, they're having an additional judge and I'm not really sure if that is a good thing or not cos I for now think that sometimes too many chefs spoil the broth but from what I read, she's highly rated in the music industry so we'll just have to wait and see.

The only thing about AI that I really don't fancy is having to watch all the riff raff go through the auditions. I know that's basically to make the show more exciting but it's still the least favorite part of the show. Hopefully they have a contestant that I would like :D

In fact, I read in Nessa's post that a few other reality shows like Akademi Fantasia and One In A Million season 3 is also going to start real soon. While I'm not a huge fan of Akademi Fantasia, I am a huge fan of One In A Million and knowing that it's going to make a comeback soon has me doing cartwheels! LOL! Ok, not really cartwheels, but you get the picture :D

I just hope they don't all clash with each other otherwise I'm going to have a tough time figuring out which show to watch. That means, I need to rush and finish a couple of assignments that I have lying around starting with this one on conversion rate optimization so it won't eat too much into my reality TV hour ... LOL!

  3. I like AI too, but I think I only watch the beginning part (ie the auditions for wannabes) and the ending (the last few episodes). Somehow I feel the middle part gets really boring - I don't know why.

I think the new judge will add some spice to the show, otherwise it's the same old Simon, Paula and Randy. I hope to see some fireworks coming from the judges.

  7. Nick, I am not a big reality show fan either..... so unless it's the amazing race that stimulates my interest to travel to countries afar, I pretty much do not have the will power to stay glued to the tube.

AI.... well, I like it when they do the bloopers. Now, that one is worth watching :)

  10. We had a guest judge every week on our Australian Idol this year and it was really good. It was always a musical artist who's role it was to mentor the remaining contestants during the lead up to the show that week and just give them advice and pointers. They would then sit in on the judging panel. They had Cyndi Lauper who was brilliant, Chris Isaacs, Germaine Jackson and a few Aussie music stars as well.

I liked it because it gave a fresh view point every week and it kept the regular judges on their toes which was good to see too.

  11. I love watching reality shows like America's Next Top Model but not because of the usual reasons most people watch it for.

I watch it for the sake of laughing and bitching about how silly they can be LOL. seriously I can't believe how they get all emo over small tiny matters

  13. Nessa - Well, he was okay. Good and all that but a little clichéd. My fav so far is that Stevie Wright woman and the Iron Man look alike from today's installment :D

  20. Samantha - I've seen that show and yes, the contestant can be a joke at times! Sometimes I think it's all just orchestrated for entertainment value ...

  21. OMG! Rozie would be in fits, that Micheal Castro (brother to JC) is on the show! LOL! When I watched the auditions, I was like, Are you kidding me, roz?? She totally used the "Law of Attraction"!! LOL!

Anyways, I used to enjoy watching the riff raff, I thought it was kinda funny. But now, I'm getting tired of it too.. I just wanna see the good ones.

I like the guy whose wife had just died. Yeah.. he's alright.. I didn't see the vision impaired singer though. Well, let's see what happens in next week's audition.

  22. Shemah - I'll bet she is ... LOL!

Yeah, somehow I think most of the riff raff is there just to entertain the viewers, that's all. Im waiting for Hollywood week that'll be worth watching :D

Right now, my favs are Stevie Wright and yeah, that guy whose wife just dies, I dubbed him Iron Man cos he looks like Robert Downey Jr. ... hehehe ...
