Valentine has come and gone and I spent it doing household chores with wifey like washing the windows, mowing the backyard, cleaning the kitchen and sweeping the floor, you know the usual Saturday household stuff. When you have a family and kids to attend to, Valentine's day really takes a back seat. Besides, we all know how commercialized its become with the cost of everything that's associated to romance being tripled just for this 'special' day alone.
When you're young and just falling in love, I guess you'd probably want to make a big deal of of this particular day just to make and impression with your loved one and to show her how much she means to you by getting her and expensive gift of something. But my understanding of t romance is to show your love all year round and not just on the 14th of February with some expensive gift. You probably think this is my way of getting out of buying a gift for wifey. Well, yeah, of course it is ... LOL!
I actually got wifey her Valentine gift last week, when things were not hiked up yet. And she loves the gift I got for her which makes me a happy man :D Besides, we did have a Valentine breakfast this morning, of course not an expensive one cos we don't believe in making some unknown person rich with our hard earned money charging us sky high prices.
The boys had replacement classes today so wifey and me took advantage of it by going out for a breakfast date this morning. It's not always that we get the chance to be alone without the boys harassing us for this or that. We went to this place called JomBali at Carrefour.
A pretty decent place serving local breakfast stuff, nice ambience, a resort looking atmosphere (yes, in Carrefour of all places). The food was good and most importantly, it was cheap ... hehehe ... We'll definitely go back there again. And that was our Valentine experience for the day. The rest of the day was spent cleaning up after we came back from our date. What about you guys? How was your Valentine's Day? Fun and exciting, I hope :D
And on another note altogether, in one of my previous posts long ago, I mentioned that the backyard of my house is like a playground for stray cats. Healthy, fat and contented stray cats who have all decided that my backyard is their public toilet. I've lost count the amount times I've cleaned up their crap (pun intended).
It's always this same bunch of strays that hang around back that I've taken to giving them names. There's Whitey, Tigger, Devil Woman and Tabby, who happens to be my favourite cos he's the one who hangs out the most in my backyard.
This morning, wifey was doing something at the back and saw Tabby lying in the drain at the back. She thought the fellow was just being lazy and sleeping there like he always does. But he just kept on lying there and when I went out, he just looked up and then lay down again which got me worried. Now this is really surprising for me.
I'm not one who is very fond of animals. The only animals I'm fond of are my two best buddies (LOL!) so the concern I was showing for Tabby was not normal.
Even when I went near to Tabby, who would normally move away, he just lay there with his head up looking at me. And that's when I knew the poor fellow was sick. I could see it in his eyes. I went in, took a wanton (not the best cat food I know) and gave it to him and he walked over really wobbly like and plonked his fat body down in front of the wanton and slowly ate it.
He looks sick and I'm kinda worried that he might not live through the night. There are no obvious wounds or anything on him, probably something wrong internally, I don't know. I'm no vet. But I'm definitely sure he's not well cos he's been lying there all day. I hope he'll recover by tomorrow and that it's not serious. Maybe he had a heavy Valentine session or something and is just stoned ... LOL! Ok, ok, I shouldn't be laughing. Anyone has any suggestions on how I can help poor Tabby?
.
Your Valentine's Day sounds just like mine. I've been in a spring cleaning frenzy and it feels so good getting cupboards, drawers, wardrobes etc all sorted out.
ReplyDeletePoor Tabby. Do you have some kind of animal shelter you can take him to where he might get some medical attention? I can't bear to think of an animal suffering even though cats are probably my least favourite animal.
I hope he survives the night.
Happy Valentine's Day Nick!! Belated!! :D So what did you get wifey?? New placemats?? :P
ReplyDeleteAwww.. poor Tabby!! I want a cat la. Maybe I should catnap Tabby. Looks like he needs loadsa TLC. You can keep Devil Woman.. *hissss*
Where I live you can call the Animal Rescue League when there is a stray or an injured animal. Is there something like that where you live? I hope he makes out okay.
ReplyDeleteOooh, poor Tabby. Whenever a cat lies in the drain or just goes into hiding (and not in the playful kinda way), that's usually a sign that death is knocking on its door. I've had cats my whole life so I know these things.
ReplyDeleteI hope I'm wrong abt Tabby & that it's just a case of him being a lazy cat. Best is you bring it to the vet asap.
Romany Angel - I think we're past the celebrating Valentine thingy.
ReplyDeleteI hope he survives too. That little fellow is always so lively running here and there that it's so sad t see him lie there so listless ...
Syura - Happy Valentine's day to you too :D No la, still can't find those placemats yet.
ReplyDeleteWell, if he lives through the night, you can have him ... LOL!
Tammy - I think they probably due but I just don't know where to look. I suppose if he gets worse then I'll have to look around for one ...
ReplyDeletePerky - Oh my, that's not what I wanted to hear but I think you're right. He's just lying there so listless. Poor fellow. I honestly hope he pulls through the night. I'll do what I can for him though ...
ReplyDeleteAiyyoooo poor Tabby!!!
ReplyDeleteI want a Tabby cat too.. if only my kids can keep their hands to themselves. At my uncle's place, my kids loved them so much, they practically choked it.
So probably Tabby is safer not being with me. Hehehehee.. Well, anyways, hope you can help Tabby out. Go by him some Friskies or something and maybe the good food will help him out.
Is JomBali at the new Carrefour?
My Valentine went to work until midnight and when he came back, I made him coffee, we watched The Planet Earth and while he was talking to me, I fell asleep on the couch!! LOL!
Nick, I love cats!!! And yours are beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteA similar valentine's day in Brasil is on June 12th.
Poor Tabby. How is he?
ReplyDeleteA good looking cat! But poor thing. Is he better now?
ReplyDeleteShemah - LOL! Yeah, I dont think Tabby would be safe there ...
ReplyDeleteWell, the good news is, Tabby made it through the night and is okay now cos he's missing from the drain. Probably out roaming around the back yard again ... hehehe ...
No, it's at the old Carrefour, the Subang one. Try it out one day, it's a pretty cool place :D The new Carrefour at USJ 19 is just too cramped, like one big pasaraya only ... hehehe ...
LOL! Cool way to spend Valentine's I must say.
Cidao - They're not my cats, their the regular strays that hang around the back lane and I've kid of grown fond of them so it's sad when one of them is sick. But the good news is, he's okay now :D
ReplyDeleteYou guys don't celebrate Valentine's day on the 14th?
Mama Mia - Tabby is just fine right now :D
ReplyDeleteBT - Yes, he's better now :D I haven't seen him since yesterday though, probably roaming around the back lanes seeing as he's all healthy now ... hehehe ...
ReplyDeleteTabby does look poorly. Give it a shot of tequila to keep it high in spirit! :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Nick, firstly, liked the design of your header and your evil avatar. Loved your sense of humour too but I can't find the follow your blog link. Hmmmmm ... did you put one on your blog or not???
ReplyDeleteI'm not into cats, loathed them!
Anyway, your wifey must have needed to shop for groceries, that's why you ended up having a date with her at Jombali in Carrefour la! I would say, killing 2 birds with one stone, ya?
Is JomBali at the new Carrefour? Or at the old one? When we're there, we always want to find a place to eat that isn't a)fast food b)food court. LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I want that Tabby!! How is it today?? But with the kids around, I think it's safer there with you.. LOL! My kids love cats but god knows they don't know how to pet it. They'll strangle it instead.
Get him some Friskies.. maybe that'd help him alot. I gave a stray at my home in kk Friskies because it was looking poorly, and now it's sooo pretty and healthy looking and the fur is gorgeous. Last time I went home, they named it already! LOL!
You do a lot of housework, this means you're a good man :)
ReplyDeleteOMG poor Tabby!!! Nick the best thing u can do is to take him to the vet, asap! Poor thing he does look sick la!! :(:(:(
ReplyDeleteI hope Tabby is okay now. I hate seeing animals in pain. I wanted to be a vet once, but then I realised I would be crying every time an animal was ill! Vets need to be stronger than that!
ReplyDeleteHappy V day for Saturday. Sounds like you and wifey had a nice breakfast and quality time together. Plus the house was clean!
awww poor Tabby! You should take it to a vet.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great Valentine's Day though ;)
I read this post for 4 times already, and i didn't even leave any comment!! heheheeee
ReplyDeleteAll i want to say is, Tabby looks soooo cute!! Could it be he was too full that day?? Thats why he became lazy???
Call the SPCA?
ReplyDeleteGallivanter - LOL! That might just work ... for me at least :D
ReplyDeleteWenny - First of all, welcome to my blog :D
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't have the follow me thingy on my blog. Too lazy to put up the widget ... LOL!
Actually, it was sort of my cheapskate Valentine date with wifey ... hehehe ... but we did end up buying something from there anyway ...
Shemah - No, it's in the other Carrefour, the one next to Subang Parade. I know what you mean, it's hard to find a cheap good place that isn't a fast food joint or a food court.
ReplyDeleteThe really good news is Tabby has recovered :D LOL! Yeah I think Tabby is safe here ... I think Tabby gets fed enough by the neighbours cos the bugger is so darn chubby ... LOL!
The Real Mother Hen - LOL! Strange as it may sound for a man, but I enjoy doing housework ... OHMYGOD! I can;t believe I said that ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteMariuca - Well, the good news is, the fellow has recovered and is now roaming the neighbourhood once again :D
ReplyDeleteThe World According To Me - LOL! Yeah, I dont think it would do to have a vet breaking down while treating animals in pain ...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the V day wish :D We did have a good time :D And Tabby has recovered just fine too :D
Sriyany - I should but he's okay now :D
ReplyDeleteKadus Mama - Four times? LOL!
ReplyDeleteI seriously don't know la, but he did look sick. He's not normally a lazy cat but the good news is he's fully recovered :D
Foongpc - That would have been my next choice but he's made a full recovery :D
ReplyDeleteHappy (Quite) Belated Valentine's Nick!
ReplyDeleteTabbu looks adorable. How are things with him?
yay, kitty has recovered!
ReplyDeleteHaizum - Thanks :D You've been missing for a while ...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to say that Tabby has made a complete recovery :D
BT - Yup, he's totally healthy againg :D
ReplyDeleteToo Cute! I want a cat but my kids are to hyper and would scare it.
ReplyDeleteThat was sweet that you and wifey had some alone time to celebrate. I think it's just so important especially when you have a family...but OMG I am so glad that I spent it with friends. Imagine lah if I went for dinner with my parents at this age! Hahahaha That one barulah confirm LOSER!
ReplyDeleteHousehold6 - welcome to my blog :D Go ahead, just get one, who knows, your kids might just like him :D
ReplyDeleteRozella - It is ... just trying to find time alone for us is like next to impossible. We always grab whatever chance we can get to be alone :D Glad you had a great time with your friends :D
ReplyDeleteOh No! I sure do hope Tabby is alright now.
ReplyDeleteMeleah - Tabby is just fine right now :D Running around the neighbourhood and causing havoc again ... hehehe ...
