Sunday Musings ...

It's been a boring Sunday so I thought I might as well get online and blog. I don't normally post on weekends unless I have too or unless I'm positively bored like today. At least it rained a little this afternoon which cooled the entire place down considerably. It's been exceptionally hot almost the entire week and yesterday was really the worse its been.

I was practically sweating the entire day. Even taking two to three baths didn't really help. The moment I finished toweling off, I was sweating again almost instantly. When I went to my buddy's place for a hangout session later in the evening, we were all still feeling the effects of the weather even though he had his air conditioning on. Its been a very hot week. So the rain this afternoon was a welcome sight.

I was surfing and reading this article on colon cleanser's when I heard the first drops of rain my roof. I howled and danced in delight the moment I looked out to confirm that it really was raining. In fact I felt like running out and dancing in the rain but then everyone would probably think I was insane ... LOL! And then after the rain, the sun decided to just stay away which further cooled the place down even more. At least the room doesn't feel like an oven anymore.

The weekend in general has been a pretty decent one. Yesterday me and my two best buddies hung out together at one of their homes. We haven't done this for quite a while now. I remember a time when we would hang out every weekend from early evening till the wee hours of morning. But ever since we've started having our own families, that has died down to the occasional visits for Christmas, birthday parties and stuff like that.

And speaking of hanging out and all that, this bring to mind the fact that I'm really a very anti-social person. I don't really like hanging out with anyone much except my two good buddies whom I've known for more than 20 years. They're the only two people I would hang out with anytime without hesitation. Everybody else I'll always decline with some excuse or other. Even my relatives know better than to invite me over to their place for any functions or events. I'll most probably not turn up.

I've always been really anti-social since my childhood days. I was the one who would always hide out whenever relatives came to visit. I'd hate having to sit there and socialize with them. I'd just run and hide in my room till they're gone. Even when I went to school, I seldom accept offering by friends to hang out after school or go over to their houses for hangout sessions. I'd much prefer just heading home and sleeping ... LOL! I suppose my number one hobby which was sleeping had something to do with the fact that I'm totally anti-social.

I just rather spend my time being by myself most of the time. Well, of course these days I'd rather spend my time hanging around wifey and driving her up the wall with my incessant clowning around ... LOL! I guess it's also probably cos I can't relate to the characters of other people. I'm a pretty complicated but simple creature. I have my own moods and views on a lot of things and when it doesn't go in tandem with the way I think, I back off from them.

Aside from wifey, the only other two people who know me real well are my two buddies. The fact the we all think alike is basically why they're the only ones I feel so comfortable hanging out with. I would turn down an invitation by a relative or anyone else just to hang out with these two anytime.

Besides, I don't really like going out much anymore. These days, I prefer heading straight home after work and hanging out with wifey. She's my best friend, my hang out partner, my lover, my partner in crime, my cook (LOL!), my doctor and sometimes even my psychologist when things really bug me. I guess the fact that she's as anti-social as I am makes us the perfect pair ... hehehe ...

  2. I guess it's not the crowd number that matters but more of the qualitative aspects of time with your best buddies and loved ones that matter. I have a circle of trusted friends whom I enjoy keeping company with and there are also people who are just acquaintances (hi and bye type) that I don't really hang out with. And of course there are those I don't enjoy their company...so I don't hang out with them.

I am basically an introvert but depending on situations and who I am with..sometimes, I can be an extrovert too.

  3. Aww... that last para was very sweet... I suppose we all get anti-social at times. I know I do too... even with people whom I like quite a bit.

  4. You and I are so alike it's frightening. I would happily live without going out and the less people I see the better. I don't even blog anymore so even socialising on line has bitten the dust too. Does that officially make me a hermit?

  5. How did you do when courting your wifey? I mean, did you ever take her out to socialize with your friends? Were you ok when she asked you to socialize with her family? :)

And, would a donut party entice you to go out and socialize?

  8. Anny - Well, at least hanging out with a dog is way better than hanging out with some people I know ... LOL! I also only have 2 friends in this world that I'm comfortable enough to hang out with but even then these days we don't hang out all that often ...

  9. Aiyo! That means no chance of me hanging out with you lah! haha!

Actually, I am also kind of anti social too, but it really depends. On my mood and on the people I hang out with. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood to hang out and prefer to keep to myself and be alone. I enjoy being alone and have myself as company. Really, I think people should spend more time alone. It's enlightenment! Haha!

Btw, do drop by my blog and join in the Guess This Song contest : )

  17. So they say that once a person gets married, the family comes first. But of course, it's not true to everybody. It's just a matter of setting priorities. :-)

  18. Marlene - Yeah, I suppose that is true in a way. I put my family above everything else ... well, maybe not my sleep ... LOL!
