Fashion Disasters!

Sometimes I think a lot of people don't own mirrors or maybe they're just blind and only see what they want to see. And the worst part is they don't realize they're making fools of themselves out there.

Last Sunday, after sending the boys to Sunday school, wifey and me would as usual head down to the nearby shops for breakfast. A little off topic here, if you're looking for the worlds best pork ball curry noodle, then there is this place in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, near this shop that sells nissan accessories which serves a heavenly bowl of pork ball curry noodles. I simply cannot get enough of it and normally end up licking the bowl dry ... LOL!

Ok, back to my tale :D While we were waiting for our food to be served, we see this lady walking in with her husband, quite middle aged, in fact I think slightly more into old age (LOL!) and she was dressed in this most horrifying outfit, with lace and frills, thick make-up plastered all over her face, dyed hair and huge sunglasses and all that, not forgetting this awful handbag with a huge bow around it, walking in all high and mighty like she was some super model!

Now, I seriously believe she doesn't own a mirror cause if she did, she would have slapped herself silly for dressing up like a tart. Either that or she does have a mirror and thought she looked good enough to rival Claudia Schiffer or something. Sometimes I think old people should dress a little more dignified and maybe act their age a little.

Just two Sundays ago, we were having breakfast at this same place and there walked in this mother and daughter. They were dressed alike. Nothing wrong with that. The daughter was in this short tight  pants and tight top and well, the mother was also dressed in this short tight pants but with her saggy ass cheeks hanging out which nearly made both wifey and me throw up our breakfast.

Come on lady, you really need to look at your age before trying to pull off what your daughter has on which is most definitely not going to work for you, especially with your saggy body and wrinkled face. Oh ya and I forgot to mention the amount of make up she had on.

Once again, she had this look on her face which made her think she was still as young as her daughter and actually looked good in what she was using. Come on auntie, it's time to act your age la! You're really not expecting people to come up to you and and say,

'Wah, you two look like sisters la, so young.'

Especially not with your saggy ass cheeks hanging out so obscenely like that!

This is something I noticed in a lot of people, especially old people and not being gender biased or anything, but especially the women. Of course there are some men too whom I've seen still trying to act like a teenager with their balding heads and all ... LOL! Why can't they age gracefully? Is it so wrong to be old that they think by dressing up like a teenager, people would think they were still young?

There comes a time when you know that you cannot wear what the younger people are using and expect not to look like an idiot and have people not to laugh at you behind your backs. Are they still trying to retain the youth they left behind? I'm getting old myself and I don't try to dress like how my kids would dress cos I know I'd look like a clown.

But then, who am I to complain. Everyone is entitled to what they want to wear whether they look like complete idiots or not. Besides, they do provide me with some form of entertainment :D I hope none of you guys fall into this category cos if you did, and you happen to see this guy sniggering at your from this corner, well that guy would be me ... LOL!

PS: One more thing before I go, all you men who love to put up your t-shirt collars, let me tell you Eric Cantona is so yesterday. So not cool man!

  1. hahahahha....well, that's the real life..same goes here in sabah...perhaps, during their youth they don't ever feel to how to be a fashionista until they become old enough now..so they want to dress up to impress which sometimes don't suit with them at all....

  6. Sriyany - I think you're right about the 'happening' part. But trying to dress like a teenager doesn't work, especially when you're old, wrinkly and sagging in loads of places ... LOL!

  7. I really dislike those people who dress showing off their butt cracks or undies. They should really those stuff underneath decent pants or jeans. Those stuff aren't meant for public viewing! That goes for lingerie-like clothing.

  8. Mei Teng - Yup, I have to agree. It not only makes them look silly but it's also plain disgusting and indecent!

  18. To grow old gracefully is the word but dressing up is not a definite must to be according to our age. If our looks don't age as fast as our age, why dress up according to our age??? If we can still mask our true age, I believe we should make full use of it. For vanity sake, I'm in my forties and I don't dress my age but of course, I won't dress like 20 years younger either.

I do agree that there are people, more women than men ... sad to say, who dressed so 'out of proportion' and still walked with their noses so high up in the sky. Guessed they are just being themselves. Let's just assume it's candid camera for our entertainment.

  19. Wenny - I suppose you're right but trying to dress up in something that makes you look like a clown is a no-no, well to me anyway.

I've seen some elderly people who dress up but at least they do it with style and not trying to copy their teenage daughter when it really doesn't work for them.

  20. I think people can dress up as they wish... as long as they look presentable. Butt cheeks hanging out of hot pants = sexyfail#1

  21. Terra - I suppose they can dress as they wish but at least be a little realistic as to what they can pull off and what they can't :D

Oh, it was horrendous to see ... LOL!
