No Time

I always thought working for myself would be cool. No doubt it is cool not having anyone to report to, being able to get up much later than the rest of the working world, being able to sit in the office with just my shorts and t-shirt, being able to go shopping during office hours and all that.

But there is one thing about working for yourself that is not that great which is the fact that I have to do everything myself. God, it's crazy at times. I'm up to my neck with work (which is good cos that means more money for me) that I hardly have time to do anything else. The moment I get up, it's work. work and more work till god knows what time.

Wifey does help me out as best as se can with the paperwork and accounting (thank god) but when it comes to the actual production work which really is the main part of my work, she can't really help me much with it. It's really not her cup of tea anyway, so I can't expect her to do my production work. But at least she helps me with conceptualization and contributes some pretty great ideas that I've unofficially made her my creative director ... LOL!

But seriously, working on your own can be so tiring but you really cannot afford to play the fool or bum off cos now the money is all mine and screwing up a job can cause dire consequences for my company. But then, nobody ever said that being your own boss was a piece of cake, right? Beside it is way so much better for me to complain that I'm up to my neck with work than saying I have no work at all, that would not be good.

Once I get some of these work completed and out of the way, I'm definitely going to look into those Orlando vacation packages cos I really need to take the family and go for some time off to recharge my batteries and refresh my mind. Besides, it's the school holidays and the boys have been stuck home all week and are starting to complain already.

  1. This title reminds me of a song by Frente. XD

Anyways, I wish I could be my own bos but I tend to be lazy. But then again, I'm not fond of taking orders from people who can't make orders. LOL.

  2. Maslight - I didn't even know they had a song with that title ... LOL!

That's one thing about being your own boss, you cannot afford to be lazy which is hard at times cos I am a lazy person by nature ... LOL!

  4. Don't worry, your business will expand and you'll have staff to help you. Then you have more time for yourself.

It's school hols here too. When your boys become bigger and more independent, they can go out with their friends. You'll be complaining that they have no time for you!

  5. BT - I really hope it will. I'm putting everything I have into it.

LOL! I guess by that time I'll be harassing them to stay home more!

  6. I remember your comment in one of my entries saying that it's better to know that we have something to do rather than doing nothing. So I keep reminding myself that, every time there's a piling work at the office.

Hey Massy, I love Frente too!

  9. Yeah, being a boss is no piece of cake! But of course you earn more than being an employee. And you can wake up late and dress how you like. I think the positives outweigh the negatives, dont cha think?

  10. When I used to work from home I actually put in MORE hours than when I went into an office. Its HARD to be everything at once!

  13. Well it's good news to be busy. Anyhow, once you're more settled into your business and can afford to hire some assistants, things should improve pretty good then. Just hang-in there.

  15. yeah, nobody tells you that. when you tell people that you work from home and they look at you like you must work in paradise. can't be further from the truth, eh? you're spinning around and around and around and around almost all the time that your brain is a clutter. am i right on that front? :-)))

  16. Marsha - I know what you mean, people are always telling me I have it easy these days working from home, but they don't realize that I have to WORK like crazy most of the times cos my income is not longer assured every end month. Bumming off means lesser money for me these days ...
