Don't Know Much About Algebra ...

My younger boy came and asked me this morning and asked me about some math homework help. He thrust his book in front of me and asked me to explain a few of his math problems. I took one look at the book and almost had a heart failure.

Of all the people in the world to ask for some Free math help and he comes to me. He would have been better off asking Pebbles for help. When it comes to maths, I worship the fellow who invented the calculator. If you took away my calculator I wouldn't be able to calculate two plus two. I'd probably need all my hands and toes just to answer that question and I would probably give the answer as five ... LOL!

I was never very good in maths even when I was young and just looking at my younger boys maths book was enough to give me a headache. I seriously hated maths and always wonder just the heck did we need to know all those formula's and stuff. It was not like I was going to grow up and become a rocket scientist or anything like that. Well, I did what any sane person would do, I directed him to his mommy to give him some Free homework help ... hahaha ...

Maybe if we had places like TutorVista, one of the leading online tutoring companies on this planet, I could have at least recommended him there but knowing him, he'd probably end up playing some online game instead of getting his homework do. I know I would ... LOL!

  1. LOL. Think the majority of us hated Maths. Even till today I don't see why we had to calculate the circumference of a circle!

  2. You know, maths is really easier than we think. I used to do very badly in Math because my Mom hated Math and I may have picked up on it. So as a child, I too became fearful of math and had a MENTAL BLOCK whenever someone threw a sum at me. Even the easiest sum. My mind just got jammed. I couldn't do math. Then came a very patient, SPM teacher who slowly guided me towards an A. I was failing in the earlier part of the year. But she managed to bring out the best in me and since then, I've done A-Level Math and beyond. I still get mental blocks with math but now that I know I have scored, I have more confidence that I can do it if I really needed to. Just sharing!

  3. Algebra is the most interesting and important branch of mathematics. We need algebra in our daily life. So, students need to learn this from the very beginning. But, unfortunately nowadays, children are very likely to avoid algebra. I don’t understand why they do so. Besides parents and school teachers, online tutors are best persons to encourage students to give attention to it. They provide 1-to-1 tutoring to the students. There are several online tutoring services available to help students across grades for a very nominal cost. Some of them specialize in math, especially algebra; for instance, tutorteddy.com. Students with difficulties in math or science can try it.

  4. I'm the same, I detested maths at school. I don't think the teacher helped, he was a very scary man indeed. I used to dread his lessons.
I sympathise with the homework situation!

  13. Hi,
Can you please remove the TutorVista.com back link from your blog resources since Google has reported it as a bad link.

    Thank you!
