Show Cause Letter

It's a Monday and I'm thoroughly annoyed. No, let me rephrase that. I'm thoroughly enraged! I arrived to the office today only to discover that the doors aren't even open yet! Where is everybody? Is it a holiday that I don't know about or is everyone just taking my leniency for granted?

Most of you know I run my own company with a partner these days. To be honest, the company is doing pretty well. We have loads of work that sometimes me and my partner find it hard to cope even, which is why we hired some personnel to help us out.

At this point of time we have a total of four people working for us. And as I write this post, I happen to be the only one in the office and it's now way past opening hours and there is no sign of anyone. All my staff seem to think that they're on the board of directors for this company and can come in any bloody time they please.

This has really gone on long enough. My partner and me have really been way too lenient with the hired help. We're really not the kind who likes to be rigid with rules and regulations cos I myself hate having to follow all kinds of rules which is why we're pretty loose and flexible with the staff. We don't really make a big fuss if they do come in a little late cos they do sometimes work late and stuff like that.

In fact, we don't even make a big fuss about the amount of leave they take (even though they don't really qualify for annual leave just yet) and also the fact that they always ask for an advance in wages. This has been going on for quite a while now. They normally bully my partner cos he is way more accommodating than me when it comes to asking for an advance in wages or even to apply for unpaid leave.

But enough is really enough. Being lenient is not working for people like these. Maybe I expect too much of people so I try to be patient with their incompetence but right now I cannot control my anger anymore. I've really, really had it up to my eyeballs with being patient. I have a business to run and clients to service (okay, somehow that didn't sound right ... LOL!) and if you people don't want to work, then please tell me and I can always hire new ones that are more responsible. It's not like we don't pay you decently enough.

Seriously, it's 11.10am and there is still no sign of anyone. Calling their cell phones is pointless cos it's switched off. I've got a host of things to attend to and clients to meet but I can't leave the office, at least until my partner gets in (he's seeing another client right now), so we have someone answering the phones. We have a business to run and we hired people so we could concentrate on getting more accounts in but they way it's going, it looks as if there are only two people in this company, me and my partner ... siggghh ...

I really didn't want this to be one of those Mondays where my mood is ruined first thing in the morning but I guess it's too late for that now. My mood is horribly ruined! Which is why I have made up my mind to hand everyone a show cause letter why I shouldn't terminate them all tomorrow when they come in. I've had it with being Mr. Nice Guy any longer. No one appreciates it, they just take advantage of it.

Boy, I really didn't realize running your own company can be so darned tough! Anyone know how to write a show cause letter cos I have no clue whatsoever!

This is to show that you are causing me grief. You come to work on time or else you'll be FIRED. I repeat FIRED only after the 3rd letter.

  20. What a shame they have taken advantage of your relaxed nature.
Why don't you set up some office polices, including if people are running late they should call in with a reason and expected arrival time!
Hope you get it fixed as it's no way for employees to behave, it's disrespectful and unfair.

  21. If they don't care enough about their jobs to come in on time and be available to work, they obviously don't need the job that badly...give the jobs to people who actually need a job.

  23. The World According To Me - There are policies in place which everyone seems to ignore. I've decided that being nice doesn't always work.
