A Coffeeholic, I Am ...

I love the weekends, even more so when a holiday goes along with it. We're having a nice 4 day long weekend over here in conjunction with the celebration of Aidilfitri (celebrated by Muslims around the world). I'm just gonna stay home all weekend and vegetate ... LOL!

The first thing I normally do when I get up is to go down and my steaming mug of coffee is always ready for me courtesy of my lovely beloved wife who spoils me by preparing it for me. Yes, I cannot start my day properly if I don't have my coffee. I'm a grouch, a monster even if I'm deprived of my morning coffee. I'm totally addicted to coffee!

I can drink coffee in any form, it doesn't matter if it's black, white, green, yellow or whatever. As long as there's coffee beans in it, I'll drink it. It's been an addiction since I was a wee little kid. I know people say coffee is supposed to be bad for you or something like that but I really couldn't care less. Take my coffee away from me and I'll pulverize you. Hmmm, now come to think of it, yeah, coffee sure does sound like it's bad for you ... LOL!

We don't brew our own coffee or anything like that here. The wife and me normally buy the instant kind of coffee for our daily use at home cos one, it's cheaper and two, the amount of coffee and the crazy times I require coffee, instant coffee seems like the best option for me. We've tried all the brands of instant coffee out there in the market, the branded stuff, the real low quality stuff and I've decided on this particular brand of instant coffee that is just to my liking for my daily consumption. The taste is so good that it simply beats the more branded ones flat out.

When we do feel the need (yes, wife is a semi coffee addict too) to have some freshly brewed coffee, we'll just go out and get some, They are a few places near our house that serves up some interestingly brewed coffee of various flavours. The wife actually brought back some local coffee beans from her hometown a couple of months ago when she went back but it's all gone now with my consumption rate. That local coffee that she brought back was excellent and she brewed a whole jug during the weekends and it normally doesn't last through the morning ... hehehe ... yes, I totally finish it all by myself!

I told you I was a coffee addict didn't? Actually what I would really love is to have one of those fancy schmancy coffee machines. Now that would be cool. Imagine getting up in the morning and just walking down to the kitchen and just pressing a button and you get your hot steaming mug of coffee or espresso all ready to be consumed :) But until someone buys me one for my birthday or Christmas, that's just gonna be a dream only .... siggghhh ... and if any of you do decided to surprise (*hint, hint*) me with one, I can recommend a few places you can find some cool looking espresso machines that would make my mornings a dream come true ... LOL!

Hmmm, honey you know what? With all that money you're making from postings, maybe you could surprise me with one soon ... hehehe .... please, pretty please ... Ok folks, I'm gonna go make myself another mug of coffee and then sit back with a good book and laze the holidays away.

  1. Hi Nick!

I am a coffee addict as well! I can't live one day without coffee. The headache that comes complimentary with it's absence can be devastating (my hubs can vouch the the claim is true).

Hee hee.. But I am proud of it :-)

Happy Holidays! In Singapore, we only get one day off for Hari Raya. My company practises off in lieu. So I will be back to work on Monday.

  2. Hey you coffeeholic! How many cups of coffee do you drink a day then?

I'm not a coffee person, more of a Milo person:) Coffee addiction is better than cigarette addiction! So, get that machine already. Leave wifey alone... LOL!

  5. Ahhh... coffee. You reminded me of those extreme, strong black coffee my late grandmama used to have. I think it was "Kopi Cap Kuda" or something. LOL! Mind you, you get a free spoon everytime you buy a pack! Hahaha! That coffee is so damn strong, my eyes almost popped out of the socket when I tried sipping some!

Guess I'm not a coffee person la.. coz I'm a big fan of tea. :D

Enjoy your long weekend, Nick. I noticed you have a sponsored link in this post. YAY!!!! Let's all make money!! :D

  6. Hope you have a great Aidilfitri weekend, Nick. The Philippines has a long weekend too, in observance of that Muslim celebration. But to some companies/schools (like the school where I work at), Saturday is not a holiday here so I just got Friday and Sunday as the "free" days.

I'm not a coffee addict but I do take a cup of it once in a while. As a vegetarian, sometimes I feel the need to increase my sugar intake so I reach out for some coffee (or chocolate) especially when I'm in the "depressive" mood, hee hee hee.

  7. Ethel, coffee that makes your eyes pop out their sockets are the best kind la! Kopi Cap Kuda, now that sounds like a potent brew ... LOL! So, you're more on an Earl Grey kinda person huh? Tea is simply too refined for a character like me ...:D

Oh, you noticed it was a sponsored link, eh? But then you're the queen of paid postings, next to my wife that is ... LOL!

  21. I've never really seen green coffee...

I don't really like coffee and walking into Starbucks can give me a headache sometimes (oh, the smell). I do drink instant coffee occasionally (very rarely) when I need a caffeine boost. I'm a tea person. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Janice, aha, another coffee drinker :D Well, I did have a nice relaxing Sunday but didn't really read anything, was most of the time helping the wife modify her blog.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lis, LOL, I've never seen green coffee either ... So you're a refined woman ah? Drinking tea and all that ... LOL! I do drink tea but only if I'm in a royalty kind of mood .. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh yeah, you bet your ass I'm refined. I drink tea in porcelain teacups and saucers with my pinky in the air and all. Heh.

  26. I used to have more than three cups a day before. I tried reducing it to one cup per day. It worked. Now, if i have more than three cups, my body would feel lethargic.

But that espresso machine is sure a cool home gadget to have especially when im need for a nice latte while blog hopping. Hehe

    ReplyDelete
  27. Carol, I agree with you about the espresso machine, now if someone will be kind enough to get me one for Christmas ... LOL!

I feel lethargic if I DON'T get more than 3 mugs of coffee minimum a day! Bad, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Haha...Nick, i would have raise my hands up to buy u the espresso machine...ONLY if it is cheaper. Haha.

Once, my former boss brought back a quotation price for espresso machines...whoaaa...each unit can cost as much as a Kancil car oh! But that was 3 years back. Maybe the price has gone down now. :)

You got that right about sleeping in late everyday ... LOL! That's what holidays are for, right? LOL!

  33. hey, coffee in moderation is good for u too! realy, no kidding! i've made some research when my frens ask me to quit drinking but i can't! i must have a cup a day. so i am not really addicted, just cant go without it.. :P

  34. I drink 3-in-1 too. I like Goldroast cos it has the right combination of coffee, creamer and sugar. care to share which one you like best? I must try too.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Cbenc12, cool, now I can tell all those people who've been telling me coffee is bad that it really is not ... LOL! I can't go a day without my coffee too.

    ReplyDelete
  36. BT, hey, I've tried Goldroast too and it's not too bad I must say. I'm currently trying In-comix and it's excellent. I used to drink the Nescafe 3-in-1's but they were so mild (even the rich ones were mild for me) and they're kinda expensive too cos of their silly brand name status to maintain.

  39. Hi NickPhilips. I'm a current coffee addict as well. The years of influence from the hubby. Hehe. Have you ever brewed the coffee from the brand called Hainan Lao Kopi? I've just started this brand and it has such a rich taste to it. Much much better than those instant 3-1s which always quickened my heartbeat (not from the anticipation for the coffee but the caffein trigger. Do let me know if you ever try Hainan Lao Kopi, okay?
