Arrrgggghhhhh ... Mondays Revenge!

Would you believe I had to actually go back to the office and do some freakin' work today? On a Sunday at that! And worse yet, just as everything was done and I was about ready to start printing the darn proposal, well I was into page two anyway, when an error message pops up on my PC and tells me in some foreign computer gibberish that my spool sub device something or rather cannot be found! Now, what in tarnation is a spool sub device in the first place?

And with that, my PC refuses to print anymore, no matter how many times I reboot the system, no matter how many times I scream at it and threaten to throw it out the window, no matter how much I plead with, even promising my first born child to it, it just refuses to cooperate. To make matters worse, I can't even use the other PC's in the office to try and print cos the main printer drivers are all on my terminal (who's wise idea it was, I don't know!) and since my terminal refuses to budge, I can't do much. I'm doomed, I tell you. I have a presentation at 10.30am tomorrow and I can't print a single thing.

I'm not really an expert in computers, I do know how to troubleshoot my PC when things go wrong and all that, but when it starts giving me crap which I'm not familiar with, I can't do much. I sat there for an hour (when I could have been home napping instead) trying to figure it all out and in the end I just gave up. Besides it's Sunday, I can't even call my computer guy cos I know for a fact he doesn't answer his cell on Sundays. A smart guy that fellow.

I was so frustrated that in the end I decided to just leave everything and head home. I'll head into the office early tomorrow and try to install the printer and it's driver directly into another PC and hopefully, I'll be able to at least print my proposal in time for my presentation. If not, I'm going to have to cook up a nice little convincing story to my client about how my dog ate the proposal or something along those lines. And if that doesn't work, I could just break down and cry in front of them. That just might work.

Oh, how I LOVE the pressure! Not! Well, it serves me right for doing everything at the last minute. Not that I'll learn from this, mind you. I'm too dumb to learn from anything. I'll probably do this again sometime soon and start bitching about it here as usual. Monday isn't even here yet and it's already looking like a gloomy Monday ... sigghhhh ... By the time this is all over, I'm going to be needing some psoriasis treatment really bad. Urmmm, what the heck is psoriasis anyway? LOL!

Oh, and by the way, do you notice how short this post is? I must really be stressed out!!! I think I'll go to bed and sleep my sorrows away now.

  6. Rozella - LOL! Thanks for the wishes. I am feeling much better today, seeing as how I managed to get all my stuff printed and presented on time and not blame my dog (which by the way, I don't have) for it :D

  10. Hi Nick! Sorry to hear that you had a tough time with the computer! A pop up in a foreign language! Oh no :(

I am not an expert with computers either :( I am one of those people who just talk to them and tells them all sort of things when they refuse to cooperate :)

  11. BTW, I hope that your Monday will be all right. Mine seems to be a bit gloomy as any other Monday! :) Have a great week!

  12. Hey Nick! It's almost to the end of Monday, how's everything? The printer? The presentation?

I can (never) work home too. A few times I brought home my students homework, telling myself to check 'em all. But in the end, I'll get back to school with the same books, untouched. Too much distraction at home. Ha!

You got your 1st born into the deal? LOL!

  14. Why do these things always happen at the worst time possible?

I can imagine how frustrated you were!

I hope everything sorts its self out. Or they are very sympathetic people!

  15. Hi, Nick! Allow me to butt in once in a while;-) Please don't let yourself beaten up on all those techie things. If I were you, I should have uploaded those files over the Internet then print it somewhere else.

    Best regards.

  16. Ha ha ha...sorry Nick, I feel for you but your post is so funny la ha ha ha...

Ok, take a chill pill and relax. I suggest you spend some time doing something you love to release the stress, like playing with your remote control car for instance? ;)

  17. Ugh! Thats awful. Can you forward the proposal home and print it from there?

Hope you get this issue resolved. What a ngihtmare

  18. You need psoriasis treatment just for a gloomy monday? I don't know what psoriasis is but it sounds like a serious kind of disease, lol!
Oh, the computer is spared, good you haven't done such thing as in the image, though. It's typical of us, we like computers but not when it's giving us complications, hehee.

  19. Janice - I still haven't fixed the printer yet, too busy to even look into it for the moment, but I will later today and it better be working ... hehehe ...

  20. La Delirante - LOL! I know what you mean when you say you talk to your computer. I'm always threatening mine with explicit violence when it starts to act up on me! Not that it works, mind you cos it has a life of its own ...

Well, the second half of Monday was much better though I still can't get the printer to function as yet!

  21. Carol - The presentation went alright, the printer is still in its usual not cooperating mode ... sigghhh ..

LOL! Yes, I agree, too many distractions and temptations at home to even do any work, that's why if I have some extra work to do, I'll head back to the office ...

Yes, I promised the darn thing my 1st born if it would just work! LOL!

  22. Cindy - You work EVERYDAY? Now that sure makes me feel much better ... LOL! Just kidding. I know how it is to work everyday, there are times in my previous job, I had to work almost all day and on weekends when we had events to do. I hated it big time!

Yay for Tuesday. It's always a much better day than Monday :D Now if only I can figure out how to get that printer to work today ...

  23. The world according to me - Yeah, they just love to happen when you're really in a rush. I think it's a conspiracy but I have no proof ... hehehe ...

  24. Albine - hey there, nice to see you 'butt' in .. hehehe ... just kidding, ya.

I was contemplating that but then I was too lazy to go find a place to print it out. Anyway, I did install the printer into another PC and managed to get it sorted out. Now I've just got to figure how to make it work on my terminal! LOL!

Hope to see you around more often.

  25. Marzie - I'm so glad to see that you 'sympathize' with me. LOL!

You mean they have chill pills? How come no one told me ... hehehe ...

Ooo, thanks for reminding me about my RC car, I haven't fired up that old thing in ages ... I think I'm going to do that tonight when I get home and irritate wifey with it ... LOL!

  26. Meleah - Awful doesn't even begin to describe it. I could forward it home but they're are some hi-res images on it and my office printer is pretty a pretty high definition one.

I did solve it in the end by installing it to another terminal which was a chore, especially having to lug that huge printer around the office!

  27. Marlene - LOL! I yahooed it and found out it is a kind of inflammatory skin condition. Ok, I don't think I need treatment for that ... hehehe ...

We're only humans and humans expect the computer to always work when they need it, unfortunately no one told the computer that ... LOL!

  30. Computers, and all their accessories really do suck sometimes. Deep breath!

  31. Oh dear Nick, are you ok? That was such a short post (by your standards) that I feel I should be worried.....and here it is Tuesday and still no word.

Hope it all worked out well in the end. Maybe the computer took exception to working on a Sunday too. I swear they have minds of their own.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm in the same boat as you, not really an expert in computers. But I hope everything is alright now. Relax!

  33. hey nick.. calm down and this time post is really sound stressful.

  35. Gypsy - LOL! Yeah, it is my shortest post to date but I'm okay though.

And you're right, deep down inside, I think computers do have a sinister and sadistic mind of its own, but I'm not through with it just yet ... LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Monica - At least I'm not alone ... hehehe ... Well, I did get things done for the presentation though I was cutting it a little too close ...

  37. Faizal - I'm way calmer already ... hehehe ... But it really was so darn stressful on Sunday though ...
