A Dream Vacation ...

I love holidays that fall on Thursdays cos then you only have one day to work before it's the weekend. How I wish we had holidays like these every other week or so. That would be the life ... LOL! Speaking of holidays, I've been harping since way before Christmas last year that I need a good vacation but then one thing led to another and I never did end up taking one.

But I seriously do need a nice long vacation. The thing is I don't know where to go. I could travel around Malaysia, but then I've been to quite a few places already and to be honest it is not cheap traveling in our own country. Looking at some of the promotions and offers they have for places here, it's sometimes more justifiable traveling abroad.

I mean, seriously, a trip to Langkawi or Club Med could almost be as much as a trip to Bali or even Phuket. And I'm not making this up. I've actually done some real research on this. And with options like that, traveling abroad would be a better choice with price comparisons like that. I hope the people in the Tourism Ministry actually look into making it much more attractive to holidaying in our own country.

But there are a few places abroad that I've always wanted to visit but have so far only visited them in my dreams. Places like UK and France with great cities like Paris, Manchester, London, Birmingham and their rich cultures have always been number one on my list. I've always wanted to see the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elysees with my own eyes. Though I've seen it a dozen times in pictures, nothing beats seeing it with your own eyes.

Then there's the London Bridge, wouldn't it be great if I could actually walk upon that bridge who's song about the bridge falling down I know so well ... LOL! Then of course, I'd love to at least before I leave this world visit the Emirates Stadium, home to Arsenal, my favourite all time football club. I'm sure wifey would want to visit Old Trafford seeing as how she's a huge fan of Manchester United. Siggghhh ... now if only I could actually afford actually going there.

I suppose I could probably do some intensive searching online and with the amount of information I can get about Hotels in Paris, Hotels in London, Hotels in Manchester and Hotels in Amsterdam I'd probably be able to get something affordable that I could take the whole family along without putting too much of a strain on my already strained budget. I must remember to check with my mom if I do have any really ailing rich uncle or aunt who's included my name in their wills ... LOL! I know, I know, I'm cruel to even think that.

p.s. - I'll bet you guys are glad this is such a short post! LOL! Anyway, happy weekend folks :D

  1. Don't worry I believe you. You're absolutely right when you say that traveling internally is more expensive than traveling overseas. I've actually just taken a holiday to Bali that cost about the same amount as a vacation here. Something just doesn't seem right does it?

    Oh and nice blog.

  3. I don't know if you are aware of this Nick but I was actually born in England and my team is Tottenham Hotspurs. Go you Spurs. I saw a couple of games when I was a kid including Man United who my brother goes for and also Chelsea. You haven't lived til you've been in one of those crowds, it's exhilerating.

Didn't London Bridge get sold to America years ago and has been reassembled somewhere over there or was that one of my very whacky dreams?

  4. You have a great weekend buddy!

London Bridge, I think, did get sold to the Americans but I also remember that it was in a hell of a state. London Bridge is falling down.... is a nursery rhyme that wasn't far from the truth! London Bridge spanned across the Thames and was actually built up with shophouses on it. I have seen a bridge across the Thames with 'London Bridge' on it (I think, I was 8) but it's not the original.

P.S. Jason Castro HAS to go!

  30. Hey Nick! I'm inviting you to spend your vacation at my hometown, Marinduque, Phils. A heart-shaped island. Warm, hospitable people. See that picture that goes with my blog title? Stretch of coastlines. Don't worry if you don't know how to swim. Neither do I, Ha ha ha!

You can bring wifey and the kids. Free accommodation at my parents house. LOL! Some free foods also.

  31. Hey Albine, that is a mighty generous offer :D From your description, your hometown sounds like a beautiful place.

Who knows, me and the family might just take up your offer ... the free food sounds tempting ... LOL!
