Rainy Days And Mondays Always Makes Me Cry ...

Coming back to work after a nice long holiday sure sucks big time. And it being a Monday, one of my most ‘favourite’ days of the week doesn’t really help at all. On top of all that, I have some personal and work related issues that needs to be looked into adds to that ‘beautiful’ Monday feeling … siggghhh …

Everything that can go wrong for a Monday is going wrong. I guess I shouldn’t be complaining so much on the first day of the week but I tend to compare today to the glorious 5 days of holiday bliss I’ve had and well, like I said, it sucks! Besides, everybody who knows me knows how much I detest Mondays.

The day started out fine. I woke up with a nice springy attitude for work. But the moment I got into the office, is when the day starts taking a turn for the worse. As usual, the first thing I do is switch on my PC and log on to my blog. The first signs of the day going south surfaces when I see the words:

Address Not Found
nickphil67.blogspot.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again.

I take no notice. This happens sometimes when I boot up my system faster than the broadband modem can fully power up and search for a network. So I hit the refresh button again. Same error message shows up. I look at the modem and see everything in order, status lights and whatnots are lighted and those that need to blink are blinking.

Darn, don’t tell me the network is down so early in the morning. I call up the service provider to give them a little early Monday morning earful but find out instead that my office has not paid the internet charges for this month and we have our broadband services temporarily suspend till then. Oh crap!

And then I find out my boss is not coming in for the day so no way we’re going to have internet access today and at least the next three days cos it takes that long for the cheque (once it’s issued that is) to clear and only then will they activate our internet again. How in heavens name am I going to get through the day without checking my blog? Somebody shoot me, please! (I can see you pulling that water pistol out already Gallivanter … LOL!)

There I am, in the office, with work that also needs internet access for me to work on and I can’t do a single thing about it. Oh well, I guess it’ll just have to wait. But what about my blog? That can’t wait! How am I going to check my blog? What am I going to do the whole day without internet connection? Man, I feel like I’m back in prehistoric times la! I guess I’m going to have to wait till I get home to blog and that’s a long time away.

With no internet connection and not being able to do any work, I resorted to cleaning my office room out. It’s been a while since I last cleaned it anyway. But that didn’t take long and there I was back to staring at my lifeless computer. Not being able to take the strain of not blogging, I power up Word and decide to type out this post and publish it when I get home later. It might not be a ‘live’ post but at least it feels a little like I’m actually blogging. Let’s call it a ‘delayed’ telecast kinda posting … hehehe …

You guys won’t be seeing me in your blogs in the morning half of the day at least until my office pays the darn outstanding bill and that would probably take the next couple of days to solve. I can only blog when I get home but I’ll definitely come check out your blogs tonight. Except for Gallivanter la, I don’t know why but I can’t seem to access his blog from my home system. But I am able to read your posts through my reader though. I just can’t leave comments until the office connection is back.

I never realized how much I’ve come to depend on the internet that when it’s down I become a stark raving lunatic … hehehe … I guess I always expect it to be there when I need it. I can’t even get online and chat with wifey and that’s a bummer! Wifey and I always keep our chat software activated so we can just holler out if we need anything but today we have to resort to sms … siggghhh …

And what’s even worse is the fact I have to check out this
moth traps for a little information about moths and now that’s going to have to wait till later tonight. I absolutely HATE Mondays!

  1. There's a song that goes:
Tell me why, why I hate Mondays...

The perfect song for you Nick.

Yes, getting back to work after a long break can foul up anyone's mood.

  3. Well that is a bummer. You're right....it is amazing how accustomed we are to having instant access to the world via the net and when it's not there it's like having a limb removed.
Well that might be a slight exaggeration but you take my point I'm sure.

Now I'm all caught up with your blog after reading 9 posts back to back. I have a few more like that too but they will have to wait until tomorrow as I am all blogged out.

I hope Tuesday is a better day for you Nick :)

Have fun and a great working week ahead.

You can't access my blog from home? Hmmm, must be the wonderful words that I've been using lately in my entries. I'll try to refrain. Hehehehe!

I know there are some stability issues with my blog (hosted in Australia), and will be switching over to another location by the end of this month.

BTW, Mel is wrong, we're not addicted to blogging, it's blogging that's addicted to us. :-)
