Blind As Bats

This afternoon when I sent my younger boy to school, I noticed that out of 10 kids there, at least 8 of them were wearing glasses. I mean, they were in the ranges of 7-10 years old and they already need glasses! Go ahead, next time you're around a school area or something, just take a look around you and I'm sure you'll find more kids with glasses on than without.

I don't remember back in my days that there was these many kids wearing glasses. True, they were kids with glasses back then but definitely not as much as today. I suppose it's the life these kids are exposed to right now. I mean, what with almost all of them having bright glaring computers and sitting in front of the TV and playing games and all that. It's no wonder the majority of kids need glasses now.

It's a sad sight really to see a 6 0r 7 year old having to wear a pair of glasses to school. I'm 41 and I don't even wear a pair of glasses just yet, though I'm going to be needing one soon enough. All those fine prints are getting to be a chore to read! I'm just glad my two boys don't need glasses yet cos they're not the kind to sit in front of the computer all day and that has in a sense preserved their eyesight for now. Granted, they do watch TV a lot but even then I've tuned the colours down so it's not too harsh for their young eyes.

I don't really want to see them wearing glasses if at all possible and I'm always telling them to not sit too near the TV. My younger boy has this habit of playing on the coffee table in the hall when we watch TV and tends to sit a wee bit too near the TV for my liking. Wifey and me has to perpetually tell him to move way back. Like I said, I'd rather not have my kids wear glasses at such a tender young age.

Besides, have you even seen how much a pair of glasses cost these days. The last time wifey left her glasses on the roof of my car and I drove off with it still there, it set us back close to 200 bucks (I think). Imagine how much money I'd have to fork out if the boys needed glasses and you know how the power levels would change over the years.

But then, if they really do one day need glasses, I'd probably check out ZenniOptical cos they sell some pretty stylish prescription eyeglasses online from only $8! Yes, 8 bucks and even converting that to our local currency that is extremely cheap. And you probably think that at that price the frames are really horrible, far from it. They have some neat and contemporary frames that even makes me want to own a pair ... hehehe ...

There is a huge selection for you to choose from right down from single vision lenses, sunsensor lenses, tinted lenses right up to your good old bifocal lenses. And the secret to their low price stems from the fact that they sell their own manufactured frames directly to their customers with no middlemen to hike up the prices. And they've got some new frames that have just recently arrived. Looks pretty cool, ya?

They're so affordable that you might have even seen some positive reports about ZenniOptical on Fox News TV or even heard about them on the radio and they were even recommended by The Clark Howard Show! Don't just believe everything I tell you. Go and check them out for yourself :D

But all that said and done, I'd still rather my boys don't ever need to wear glasses. As for me, I think with the amount of blogging I do, I'm going to need to check out ZenniOptical pretty soon! LOL!

  11. BT - My thoughts exactly when I see these 6-7 year olds with glasses on ... what's it going to be like for them when they grow older.

  12. Sriyany - Same here. I can only stand using my sunglasses for short periods of time.

  13. Kadus Mama - I agree with you. It's probably all the green you have in small towns which is good for the eyes unlike the glaringly bright city lights with hardly any greens around!

  14. Unfortunately one of my daughters is already wearing glasses and she looks so damn cute. I know what you mean about more kids wearing them these days though. My husband also wore glasses at a young age so I figure in Emily's case it is genetic.

  16. Romany Angel - You have a point there. Some could be the simple case of it being just genetics. But more and more of it is caused of the conveniences of the modern world ...
