Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire ...

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping on your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa's on his way;
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.
And every mother's child is going to spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
A very Merry Christmas to you ...

That is one of my most favourite Christmas songs ever! I cannot describe the feeling I feel inside whenever that song is played. I start feeling all sentimental and melancholy. I've heard that song millions of times and I'll never get fed up of hearing it. But then who could ever get fed up of Christmas songs anyway :D

Yeah, Christmas is just around the corner. Ok, I know it's still like one month and ten days but hey, to me that's like just around the corner. I can already smell the snow and merriment in the air. Wait a minute, we don't have snow over here ... siggghhh ... Maybe I could write to Santa and request for some snow this year.

Anyways, speaking about Christmas and all, wifey and me took out our Christmas decorations and all that from the store room today. We're going to set up our tree tonight and I think for once in my life I'm actually going to have my tree up before my Christmas crazy buddy, the Genie King does. Unless of course he goes and puts up his tree tonight, that is :D

No, no, there's no competition between the two of us about who puts up their tree first but this year my good buddy is too caught up with his studies and all and hasn't had the time to put up his Christmas stuff yet. I'm actually looking forward to his Christmas decor because as far as I'm concerned no one sets up Christmas like he does :D Urrrrmmm, buddy, that compliment should get me an extra present or two right? LOL!

Unlike last year where I had a theme for Christmas called Winter Wonderland, Christmas for me this year is going to be a little low scale. I'm not going to be carving snow landscapes and making up little winter scenes like I did last year cos as much as I may love Christmas, my enthusiasm for it this year is a little low. A lot has been happening in my life and its kinda dampened my spirits this year.

I'm only putting up the tree and some simple decor for the boys. I know the boys are already excited about Christmas. And it would not be fair to them if I didn't actually make the place feel at least a little Christmassy for them. I know how much Christmas means to a little children. And besides, the younger fellow has already started making out his Christmas wish list :D

I did have a little theme I planned for Christmas this year though which was supposed to be a fairy tale Christmas. I was planing to make life size fairy tale characters in a Christmas setting and transform the place into some sort of magical fairy tale scene but I've scrapped that idea cos I'm just not in the mood to make, carve, design or draw all those figures. I guess I won't be winning the best Christmas themed house organized by the carolers for the third year running. Well, winning it twice in a row was pretty good anyway :D

  3. We had our Christmas Pageant last week and that's the signal for businesses to start putting up their decorations. I can't believe it's so close to Christmas already.

Low key or extravagant, it doesn't really matter. As long as you spend the holidays with the people you love it's all that really matters.

  4. I remember the winter wonderland theme last year. Was that really a year ago?! My, how time flies.

I love Christmas too! Except the expense.

I like the sound of the fairy tale Christmas. Maybe your enthusiasm levels will shoot back up again soon?

  17. Believe it or not, I've been blasting on Christmas carols for the past week or so, in the buildup towards X'mas!

Been beefing up my Xmas song catalogue. Check out African Christmas 2006 album when you get the chance. Something refreshing. :-)

Anyways, maybe right now the mood to have a theme hasn't kicked in yet.. after all, we all know working last minute is the best part, right? So maybe it's still too early to start or think about it.. Come on, Nick! Pull a hat trick!

  23. Shemah - I'm seriously still in no mood to get anyone presents this year. Maybe somewhere before Christmas (hopefully), the mood will kick in ...
