The Junk People Throw ...

My Saturday was an extremely tired one. By evening my body was aching all over. And the worse part is I brought it upon my own self :D Wifey and me decided to do some major spring cleaning around the house. Not that the place was all that dirty or anything, mind you.

We just decided to get deep and dirty by cleaning all the things that one would normally overlook like the back of cupboards, under the fridge, behind the washing machine, in between the cushions of the couch. All those nooks and crannies that cannot be seen and you think is actually clean.

You wouldn't believe the amount of junk and dirt you can find hidden in there. And we spent a good amount of close to the entire first half of the day with the chores. Yeah, I know, we're both a little crazy to waste away and entirely good portion of the Saturday but hey, we enjoy doing things together.

Anyways, halfway through this cleaning binge, I found out that no matter how educated and schooled a person may be, sometimes they're no better off than a moron! No, no, this is not my moron of the week post. I couldn't find any moron this week to snap a picture and post here. This is about how inconsiderate and absolutely ignorant some people can be, well to be more specific, how stupid my neighbours can be.

Wifey and me split up our cleaning chores, so while she was cleaning up behind the stoves and stuff in the kitchen, I was like trimming the small tiny yard just outside the kitchen in the back. Halfway through I happen to just look outside the fence and what I saw the drain outside had me flabbergasted!

The water in the drain was backed up and trickling away slowly cos some stupid, idiot, moron of a neighbour decided to throw all his or her rubbish, the likes of a whole huge onion, plastic bags, a head of cabbage, empty spice boxes (big ones at that) into the drain and it all ended up stuck right outside my back drain. No wonder there were an influx in mosquitos the past couple of days which was probably due to the clogged drain.

I live in an area where the people are all educated, some of them even big time professionals and supposedly intelligent politicians but sometimes I think they're all no better off than those ignorant people who throw rubbish into rivers! Cos that was how I felt after seeing all that junk in my drain. It's exactly the same as just throwing junk in rivers and polluting the earth.

Now, I'm no champion of the environment or anything but I know better than to throw my rubbish into the drains thinking it will all just wash away somewhere. Don't these people know that the junk they throw in the drains is just going to end up somewhere else and pollute this earth? In fact, don't they even have rubbish bins in their homes, ah? It's not like they have to get rid of the garbage themselves. We do have a garbage collection lorry that comes by three or four times a week to clear out the garbage so why the drains?

I have a pretty good idea who the culprit is though I cannot prove it for certain, not until I get Gil Grissom, maybe Mac Taylor (most definitely not Horatio Caine ... LOL!) to look through the evidence first. And evidence I do have cos I had to jump into the drain and practically cleared out all the junk with my bare hands. My bare hands I tell you and boy was it absolutely yucky!!! I felt like dipping my hands in hydrochloric acid after that.

In fact, wifey has seen the old hag neighbour next door throw rubbish like rice and old vegetables outside the backyard lane before. So my guess is it's definitely them who are throwing rubbish in the back drain though I cannot prove that. But it was enough to make my blood boil. Don't these people care about where their rubbish is going to end up? Don't they even have the slightest consideration at how unhealthy the place would be with the build up of stagnant drain water which would start breeding mosquitos and the smell that would emit from the rotting food eventually?

I don't normally bother looking out the drain in the backyard but this time I don't know what compelled me to look and I am glad I did cos I know the situation would have got worse if it was left much longer. Well, I'm going to monitor that drain from now on and if I find it clogged again, they'll be some noise to be made to let certain people know that it's wrong to throw rubbish in the drains.

I am forever cursed with horrible neighbours who are not at all environmentally friendly. The one on my right has issues with trees and the one on my left has a knack for throwing rubbish all over ... siggghhh ... It's no wonder you find our rivers, parks and roadsides so filthy. It's cos of ignorant people like these that make this place a filthy place to live in.

There, I'm all done with my rant for the week ... hehehe ... Now I can go back to what I do best, which is to laze around the house :D I'm actually thinking of staying up late and catching the F1 season ender in Brazil but the live telecast over here is way into 1am and I don't think I can stay up that late to watch.

Whatever it is though, I hope Lewis Hamilton hangs on to the championship, what with some circles out there doing all they can to stop the first ever BLACK driver from Britain winning the title. What a bunch of racial bigots we have in this world. Yeah, you guessed it, I'm a diehard McLaren fan and have been a fan since I could pronounce the words McLaren :D

  4. If my house depends on me to be cleaned, it'll be disappointed! ;o)

Ok, Nick, if if you are a diehard McLaren fan, I'm a diehard Ferrari fan. I hoped Massa had won, but I liked Hamilton's victory. They both are young and F1 gets more excited.

  5. What rotten neighbours you have! It's so difficult to confront neighbours too. I get annoyed with someone who lives above us too. We're on the 2nd level and there're 12 more levels above us. Someone up there likes to throw small stuff like cotton bud, tissue paper and cigarette butt onto my patio. It makes me mad. What if the patio catches fire? Geez

  10. BT - That happens here too. People who live in apartment or flats here tend to just throw rubbish as and when they please. You should see some of the awnings on the flats here, full of rubbish!

It's not like they don't have a garbage bin or anything cos they do so I cannot see the logic of throwing things in drains ...
