The More You Shop, The Cheaper It Gets ...

I skipped the dreaded Monday altogether by taking the day off yesterday. You all know how I hate Monday's right? Well, that was the only way to avoid Monday. Just take the day off ... LOL!

Actually, I decide to take the day off to hang out with wifey. I used to do this quite often, taking the day off to spend time with wifey that is, in my previous office but ever since I started work here, I haven't really taken some time off yet. So, yesterday I decided would be the right time to do it.

Besides, after Friday's free for all at my clients place, I could do with some rest to recover from the ordeal ... LOL! Actually, I had to go there this morning to see those two idiots about the newsletter again. This time I left my laptop in the office, can't take too much chances, you know.

The good news or bad, depends on how you look at it, the two of them are still working there. And they're still handling the same newsletter project. When I met them this morning, the air was so thick with animosity that I decided to pull up a chair in the far corner of the meeting room just in case they decided to go at it again. Even Moe pulled up a chair on the far side of the meeting room ... hahaha ... what a sight it was. But things went well with no fistfights this time, thank god.

Anyways, back to my day off story. Not that I wasn't bugged on my day off mind you. I had my boss calling me up and complaining about the two designers in the office and then had a client pester me incessantly to get his things done even though he knew I was on leave. Sigghhh, no rest for the wicked ...

After getting all that out of the way, wifey and me went for lunch together with the boys after they got back from school. Then we headed out for some shopping and decided to do our grocery shopping at the same time. This is when we discovered a very strange fact. It's one of those unexplainable things again. Wifey and me, well me really to be more specific has this habit of keeping track how much we're spending as we go along the aisles doing out shopping.

And occasionally I'll be telling wifey how much we've spent so far and then she'll look in the trolley and say,

'So little things and we've spent that much already?'

And this goes on at intervals until we finish our shopping and get ready to pay. But then there are days when I just don't bother to keep track of our shopping and grab everything in sight and just dump it it the trolley. By the time we're through with our shopping and the trolley is filled on the verge of toppling over, we expect to pay a huge sum of money for all the stuff we bought.

When the cashier totals the bill we both look at each other cos the bill comes up to the same amount and even sometimes cheaper than when we keep track of our spending which is really amazing cos we buy a lot more things but end up paying a lot less. Then we'll both laugh and say that maybe we should just buy as much as we like instead of keeping track of what we buy cos whenever we do that, we get so little stuff and end up paying a higher total.

And it's not the first time it has happened. It's just one of those things that can't be explained. I think from know on, when we shop, we're just not going to be bothered with how much we've spent, cos if we do, we'll probably get so much lesser items than when we don't care about how much the cost will be ... I hope I'm not confusing you guys with this ... LOL! Hmmm, maybe now I can probably get that outdoor lighting unit I've had my eye on for quite a while now :D

  2. Hmm...I've never thought of that cause I never keep track whenever I'm grocery shopping. Maybe I should try it out sometime.

p/s: I'm not shopaholic okeh. I do keep track when I'm doing other shoppings.

  4. Mei Teng - Next time you just try dumping everything in your trolley and then see how cheap it is, just make sure you have extra cash in case my theory is wrong ... hahaha!

Yeah, those two goons are still there, unfortunately.

  22. Sweeeeeeet, buy more, pay less, can't help but love a deal like that. Unfortunately, in my case, I have yet to find one, ha ha. Most of the time, when I go shopping, I get to the check-out counter just to realize that "oops" I went overboard and, agh, I don't have enough funds on me to pay for all the items I stocked up on and I end up having to put some of them back, lol. I "really" suck at adding up the cost of items as I go along and, when I get to the counter to pay for my items, believe you me, it's not just me that knows it, so does "EVERYONE" else in line, ha ha. Soooooo embarrassing.
