She's Gone ...

Remember that artist in my office that was giving me grief? Well, she's no longer around. Yesterday was her last day and as much I hate to see someone losing their job in times I like these, I must say that everyone in the office is now breathing a huge sigh of relief.

My boss actually decided to give her another month but prior to her termination yesterday, she made everyone go mad and cost the company quite a sum of money since the day I wrote that post complaining about her right up till last Friday where she finally drove my boss to his breaking point.

My boss is not one to lose his temper. I've known him for close to 12 years or so prior to working with him and I've never once seen him get angry. But she managed to really make his blood boil last Friday. I don't know what or how she achieved it but she destroyed our digital printing machine, and it's going to cost the company at least close to RM10,000 minimum to get it fixed! My boss was livid with anger!

And then after screwing it up she just tried to fix it on her own which probably contributed to it breaking down completely without asking for help from any of us and we were all in the office at that time. I first suspected something wrong when she kept walking around aimlessly. I told my boss that I think there's a problem with her and he just told me,

'You go check la, I don't want to see her face'

So, I went and then saw her squatting at our digital printing machine just staring at it. I asked her what was wrong and she said she didn't know. I tried the machine myself and it refused to work and then I told my boss that he has a big huge problem.

Our digital print machine is one of those extremely high end ones that is the main income earner of the company and having the machine not functioning for even a couple of hours is loads of loss revenue. After my boss checked the machine and we called the suppliers who then checked it out and confirmed that we need to do a major repair for it that would cost in the region of RM10,000 or so, my boss almost fainted!

That was when he decided that she has to go. So yesterday he gave her the marching orders. And I know he didn't enjoy having to do it but she has cost us a lot of money that we can hardly afford to waste. This was like the straw that broke the camels back. And in the very own words of my boss,

'Better that she dies than we all die ...'

It might be a coincidence or something but the mood of everyone in the office without her around today is so much better. I can hear singing, laughing and dancing, ok maybe not the dancing part but you all get what I mean, right? But for now, we have to fork out close to RM10,000 and I'd hate being my boss right now.

  2. OK, suddenly I'm feeling sorry for the girl. LOL. Anyway, it looks like she failed in communication.

But I agree, sacrifice one to save the herd.

  10. Life Ramblings - It's not that she can't communicate, she can which is what really perplexes all of us at the office. Yeah, I do hope she find a new job soon though.

  11. To be fair to your boss who hired her, she's gotta give what she's hired to do..if not then your boss has to let her go. Perhaps she may find opportunities that suits her skills and talent elsewhere.

  12. Anny - God know la, of it was that Spiff fellow I can understand, but this is way beyond my understanding.

No la, that's really about the price to fix up that bloody machine. These machines don't normally break down but when they do it cost three arms and five legs :D

  13. Marzie - LOL! Well, if I was the boss, I'd not want to face her too ...

  14. Marzie - Yes, it was that bad. And I do hope she gets a new job soon though. As much as I'm glad she's gone, I do feel bad that she lost her job too but better that she goes than the whole company eventually closes down because of her ...

  15. Marzie - Darn, I really thought you forgot about me and tags ... LOL! I waited with bated breath for the havoc you're going to send my way ... hahaha ...

  16. Mei Teng - Yeah, we really expected more of her based on the experience she said she had. I guess this is the best thing to do cos we have a business to run and things like these tend to make or break a company.

  17. Man, RM10k is painful! Even more so since you're not getting any revenue due to down time! That's a double loss!

Sucks being a boss at at time like this.

  18. If I'm the boss, I would also fire her straight away. As a boss, we have to be firm and not be soft hearted because we have to think about the company. Besides, we hire a person so she could help us not give us more trouble!

But on the girl's side, the way you said it makes me pity her too. Hope she finds a new job and be better equipped for it!

  19. Tell me truth Nick, you sent Spiff to terminate her, didn't you? :o)

  23. Perry - Yeah it is. My boss is still in a daze at the moment ...

  24. Foong - That is so true. But I still can't help being sorry for her and also relieved at the same time ...

  25. Cidao - LOL! You got me there buddy. Yeah, I set Spiff loose on her ... :D

  29. It must be a relief for everybody in the office. Geez, she's a real monster, how could she screw up a machine that expensive otherwise. :-)

  30. Excuse my ignorance, I'm not sure how much that is in £ but it sounds a lot! How on earth did she manage it?! I bet you're glad it wasn't you that broke it...

  31. Eek... that's terrible. She probably should be looking for her next job in a destruction crew. You know, the people who go around destroying buildings with TNT and stuff so that new ones can be built!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Marlene - It is a relief for everyone but at the same time I feel sorry for her too but that's life, I guess ...

  33. The World According To Me - I have no idea how much that costs in pounds either but it's a lot of money.

Oh yes, I'm glad it wasn't me :D

    ReplyDelete
  34. Terra Shield - Hahaha ... that might just work out well for her. Darn, I shouldn't be laughing at other people's misfortune but the destruction crew thingy was a howler ... LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I know I shouldn't laugh at her misfortune but really, it was time for her to go. It's better anyway in the long run for the company :)

  36. Some people just have a personality that just doesn't work with the rest of the world.

I am glad everyone is more relaxed, but hope the woman gets income again soon.

  37. It's nice that you have a boss that doesn't show his temper.

  38. Oh wah, it will take you guys alot of hardwork to make that $10k to pay for the machine repair.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Perky - Actually I think it was way past her time to go la ... :D

  40. Angela - Hahaha ... a personality that just doesn't work with the rest of the world, I know a few people like that :D

  41. Rozella - Sometimes it can be a bad thing cos the office over here gets away with murder at times. I think a boss should vent every now and then, but of course not at me la ... LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  42. BT - Yah, it will. 10K is a huge sum of money. I'm glad it wasn't me who ruined the machine!

  43. Holy smokes, that's going to be one big repair bill!!! I hate to hear of anyone getting their walking papers but, wow, this is one girl that obviously needed to go. Hopefully things will work out better for her somewhere else. Kind of a bittersweet post, actually. Good thing she's gone but, of course, can't help but feel kind of sorry for her at the same time. She probably would have been better asking for help before attempting to fix things on her own...yikes!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Im sorry someone had to loose their job, but in this case it seems like your company is MUCH BETTER OFF without her!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Mistified - I think she was way beyond help. Yep, it's a bittersweet feeling though. Hope she gets a new job that she's better suited for soon ...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Meleah - We most definitely are. We're still smarting from the repair bill.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow, sounds like she was really giving everyone a hard time. It's sad that she lost her job, but in the corporate world you really need to check yourself. Glad your stress is somewhat eased due to her leaving :)
