Blind Bats!

I'm so darn busy but I just have to write this post and lament about my eyes. I know only yesterday I wrote about people who wear sunglasses indoors and how silly they looked. Well, today I'm still going to talk about glasses albeit for a different reason altogether.

I used to pride myself with good eyesight. In my circle of friends I used to be the only one who didn't have the need to wear glasses. Even within my family, I was the only one who didn't need glasses.

I had cousins who needed prescription glasses as young as 11 years old and seeing as how most of them had glasses back then, I even pretended to have headaches so my mom would take me and make a set of glasses for me. Of course she saw through that con job pretty easily. In my younger days, though I had good eyesight, I always wanted to wear glasses. Yes, yes, I was a weird child back then.

But these days when I really don't want to have anything to do with glasses, I'm probably going to need one soon enough. In my line of work, I have to look and examine color proofs and charts and tiny little text and fonts to make sure things all align properly before they're printed.

This morning, I had to check this color proof and it had some pretty small fonts that shouldn't have posed a problem for me a couple of months back. But today, I sat there squinting every which way trying to decipher just what those words meant but no matter what I did, I just couldn't read the darned text!

After a couple of long minutes, I gave up and called in my production girl and had to sheepishly ask her to read what the text said. Oh god! I never thought there would come a day when I can't make out what's written or printed on an artwork.

It looks like I'm going to have to actually go to an optician and make myself a pair of glasses soon. I don't think I want to embarrass myself constantly by having to ask people in my office for help in deciphering small fonts. Getting old really, totally, absolutely sucks! I wonder if getting myself a testosterone booster would make a difference or am I going to have to resign myself to actually wear glasses. Wait a minute, maybe I can make one with dark lenses and use it to walk around in malls ... LOL!
