An Invigorating Weekend

For once, though my thighs and calves ache like crazy, I'm feeling invigorated for a Monday :D The past week was a hectic one which ended nicely at the weekend with wifey and me running the Putrajaya Night Marathon.

I'm not going to bore you much with the details for the run cos you can always read about it in my Happy Feet blog. Wifey texted me a few minutes ago to say the official results were out and I was pretty ecstatic to find out I managed to come in at position number 45 out of 220 runners (in the men's junior veteran category. Yes, yes, I'm a junior veteran these days ... siggghhh ...). Not bad for an old fogey who developed cramps in the last 6K of the run though ... hehehe ...

But seriously though, I'm damn happy at the results as it wasn't one of my better runs, though I did set a personal best of sub 2 hours for my 21K. If only that darned cramping incident didn't happen, I could have done even better but heck, no use crying over spilled milk, right? There's always the next half marathon at the end of this month to atone for this race :D

I'm already excited at the prospect of the next race in two weeks time, which is the PJ Half Marathon, a personal favourite cos it was 'the' running event that got me into running more than 22 years ago. It's been off the running calendar for some years now and is making its reappearance this year and there was no way I was going to miss it.

I do wish my best buddy Sean, the culprit who got me hooked on running all those years ago was joining me in the run for old times sake but unfortunately he has other prior engagements. But heck, this year I have the wife joining me for it so I'll start a new tradition of running it every year with her :D Maybe after the race I can order some tulips for her as a finishing gift cos I have no idea if there is a finisher medal or not. There must be some way of ordering tulips online the easy way after the race though. I'll have to look that up.
