This And That

The Olympics is finally here and I'm pretty excited about it, especially the track and field event, to narrow it down even more, especially the marathon event, where I get to see one of my idols, Meb Keflezighi run. The fact that he's sponsored by the very same sporting shoe brand, Skechers, that I use for my runs is also another reason for my excitement. Unfortunately, I just heard from the wife that the men's marathon event is somewhere in two weeks time is kind of a downer. At least the women's marathon event will be a week earlier so that's a blessing :D In the meantime, I'll just immerse myself in the other events till the marathon starts.

I'm a little under the weather currently with a horribly blocked nose, sneezing fits and sand paper like throat. Normally, it wouldn't bug me much cos I could just sleep it off but unfortunately, tomorrow I have my own mini little Olympic like event to run, a 13.3KM relay run to take part in and having this blasted flu is not going to make that run a very fun thing to do. If it was a solo run, I just might DNS, but since it's a team event, I can't let the team down and run the event even if I have to crawl on all fours tomorrow!

I've just pumped myself up full of Clarinase to clear the blocked nose and taken lozenges for my throat so hopefully that'll be enough to see me through tomorrow. After that event I'm going to take a complete one week break from running to heal the over worked legs and then begin my second marathon training in earnest.

On a different note entirely, I'm shaking my head in utter disbelieve with the clowns we have running this country, especially more so with our very own song writer, the Information minister for coming up with such an utterly horribly intelligence insulting song for our national day celebrations next month. I'm not going to go into details about it cos unless you've been living under a rock somewhere, you would know what I'm talking about.

I won't even begin to talk about the even more horribly design retarded logo they came up with (which I read that even then, it's copied of some logo from a few years back). I'm speaking with the experience I have coming from working in the design and print industry for close to 25 years that I have never seen a logo more distastefully designed than that! I seriously would love to meet the 'creative' fellow who came up with that. As far as I'm concerned, I'm boycotting the national day celebrations and am going to just design some custom t-shirt at FoulMouthShirts.com instead. I truly hope the opposition would just come up with their own national celebrations instead.

With that said and done, happy weekend, folks!
