The Garden Shears ...

I'm glad the night has finally come and I can call it a day right after I post this, urmmm, maybe short little post ... hehehe ... and seriously folks, this might just turn out to be another short post. I'm having quite a bit of these 'short' postings lately. Gotta stop making a habit out of it ... hehehe ...

I've had a pretty decent Monday, what a surprise really. At least I won't be bitching about how horrible a Monday I've had like I normally do. Instead today I'm going to griping about how tired I am from actually doing nothing all day! Like I said I've had a pretty decent day. Work wise I practically had nothing much to do all day which was a blessing in disguise really.

The thing is I'm actually still suffering in pain from the weekends antics where I 'intelligently' used a pair of garden shears to cut the grass in my back yard. Yes, yes, I know a pair of shears isn't really the tool you'd normally use to mow the yard (and you can stop laughing already!) but being the genius that I am and seeing as how size of my back yard is just slightly larger than the average postage stamp, I thought I'd save me some money and do it myself.

Boy, how I regret that decision so badly right now. I've never really used a pair of shears in my entire existence and I went into it a little bit too gungho and by the time I was halfway through, I was practically rolling on the floor gasping for breath (there went the macho image that I was trying to maintain with wifey!). It was worse than running a half marathon and I should know cos I've run a few before. Next time, I'll just pay someone to mow the backyard for me.

Well, true to form, a couple of hours later my arms, back and every other part of my body (and a few parts I never knew could ache) started to ache as if someone had bashed me with a baseball bat or something. I was walking around and groaning all day feeling like an 80 year old. And sitting around in the office all day doing nothing made the aches even worse. In fact I've been feeling rather, well rather is too mild a word, I've been feeling extremely lethargic all day.

My energy level, if you could see it would probably be in the low reds. Just trying to walk was a huge chore in itself. I don't think I've ever been this sapped of energy in my life. And as the day progressed my energy levels started going down even lower.

For those of you who have played the game called 'The Sims' this would be like the energy level meter on the game interface where it would show green when your Sim was full of energy and red when it was low. Times like this is when I wished I had some energy pills to boost me up a little.

And the moment I reached home, I practically crawled into my house and up the stairs in the room and plonked myself in bed, which was about all I could do. At least after dinner I started to feel so much more revitalized. Must be that great chicken kurma wifey made for dinner :D

I'm seriously just glad the day is finally coming to an end. At least I can get some rest after this. I know I should have just gone straight to bed like what wifey just did but I couldn't resist the lure of my blog ... LOL!

  1. Haha, I have done it before too but our lawn is quite big. The trouble with using shears is, after a few snips, the shears don't cut well anymore. I can't understand why. It happens on a brand new pair of shears too. It's backbreaking work!

Anyway, we have someone help us cut the grass but sometimes he doesn't come round fast enough and it irks me to see the tall weeds gobbling up my plants.

  7. BT - Okay, I didn't know that. I thought my shears just wasn't sharp enough cos after a few snips, I was practically using it to pull the grass off! LOL!

And backbreaking doesn't even begin to describe it la. I'm just going to leave stuff like this to the professionals the next time. Panting on the floor in agony is so not good for my macho image ... LOL!

  13. So, that postage stamp patch wasn't as tiny as you thought it'd be. But, no shame...I've done it as well, and I can safely say my back's never been the same since! LOL!

I do hope you're not going to use the shears to trim your mango tree...

You should have gone home to rest instead of sitting and doing nothing in the office. Anyway, hope the pain has gone by now.
