Boring Days Ahead ...

You know, spending the last 2 weeks of working in this office is actually getting to be a chore. Now that I've officially sent in my resignation letter, I have absolutely nothing much left to do over here. I've basically finished all the current work and I'm most definitely not going to start any new projects cos I don't want to leave it hanging when I leave.

So, that leaves me with nothing really much to do. There are still a few loose ends to tie before I'm finally out of here for good. But to be honest, I'll miss this place quite a bit. After all, I did grow with this company from the start and I do know the inner workings of this company with my eyes closed. And I also did work here for 6 years. It would be a lie to say I won't miss the company.

I honestly do or rather did enjoy my work here. Tough and stressful as it sometimes may have been, it was something I thoroughly loved doing. After all, it's the only job I know how to do well. But there are times in ones life that a decision has to be made to move on to better things in life. And the time has arrived.

My last day here is the 3rd of December and I'm going to take a few days off and spend sometime with wifey before I start my new job on the 7th of December. It's really not going to be a 5 minute drive to work anymore. It won't be so easy for me to just drive home for lunch or even take an hour extra and go grocery shopping. So whatever extra time I can spend with her before I start the new job is much appreciated.

I'm also a little nervous about the job. It's never easy starting a new job and starting out fresh again. A lot of new things have to be learned. New office cultures have to be adapted to. New people I have to get used to and it can all be very overwhelming. I honestly hate changing jobs. I think I've only ever worked in 4 other companies before.

I guess I'll adapt eventually. After all it's the same industry and I am bringing at least one client along with me. When he knew I was quitting, he came to me and said he'll stick with me no matter which company I joined and I was touched by that gesture and the faith he has in me. I must have done something right in this company after all. At least I'll bring in a new account for my new company :D

But right now and for the next two weeks, life is going to be really boring. I was sitting in the office all day just surfing and doing nothing really constructive at all. Well, it did give me a chance to blog, so that was a good thing ... hehehe ... I guess it's going to be like this until my last day here and I'm so not looking forward to the boring days ahead. I'm not one who can sit on my ass all day doing nothing. And there is also a limit as to how much time one can spend blogging.

Whatever it is, I'm hoping that the future is a better one and that this decision is really the right thing to do. I don't want to look back one day and regret making this decision.

  4. Oh, you have a new job. This explains the reason for leaving your current job. I agree, it's not easy to shift from one company to another. It feels like you're starting from zero again. But there's always time and space for adjustments.

  11. All the best in your new job Nick.
I have half the thought that you'd be dedicating your time with your Dream Themes after you are done with your current job. :)

  12. Good luck Nick, I'm sure you don't need it though. I quit my previous job last October, and had almost a month off before I started my new job on 3rd Dec 08. Notice the similarity of the dates? :-)

I was nervous at the beginning, took me a good 4 months to finally adapt, and boy, now I'm loving it!

  16. I can imagine what it is like serving the rest of your days in the existing company. It sounds like an exciting new start in the new one. Sometimes we need change like this to keep us feeling energised. Don't worry too much. It'll be fine.

  18. I'm sure you won't regret the decision to change jobs. It's always hard to embrace change but nothing will ever get better if we are too scared to make a move forward. Good Luck...you'll be great.
