It's been such a painful day at work today and I mean that literally. Every step I take sends jolts of pain shooting up my back. I have this terrible, well not really terrible to the point of paralysis or anything like that but it's still a darn painful back ache. And the worse part is about this back ache is I didn't even do any hard or laborious work to deserve this pain.
I woke up this morning with this shooting pain down my lower back. I put it down to the usual early morning aches I always feel. The signs of old age creeping up on you. I thought maybe once I have my bath and warm up a little the pain will slowly ease away like it normally does.
Then I got caught in a traffic jam this morning (which is a rare case these days) and since I drive a manual car, I had to keep on depressing the clutch and changing gears constantly. It was then that I realized the pain was still there. Every press of the clucth and changing of the gears brought about some kind of pain from the lower back. Ok, this is not my normal early morning aches anymore.
The pain just kept on getting getting worse as the day wore on that it went from an irritating and annoying throb to a more constant pain. Every step I took elicited a groan, every press of the keyboard brought about a grunt, every turn of my body made my face grimace. Damn, I hope this pain goes away soon and not get any worse.
I don't even remember what I did that could have made my back hurt like this. All I did last night before sleeping was to blog for a bit, then read my book in bed and finally called it a day. I suppose I may have twisted my back or something while sleeping. I do tend to sleep in weird kinds of positions that defy logic at times ... LOL!
I guess I'm not going to be able to help wifey out with the removal of those patio furniture covers this evening when I get home. She's probably going to have to do it all by herself. In fact, she's probably going to be having to do most of the work in the house, at least until my back heals which might just take months you know honey ... LOL! At least this back pain gives me a pretty good excuse to laze around more ... hahaha!
I think I'd better log off now and go sit down quietly somewhere cos sitting in front of the PC and blogging is not helping my back at all.
.

ReplyDeleteCarol - Hahaha ... I'm beginning to suspect the same thing too. All these late night blogging is slowly taking its toll la!
ReplyDeleteTelan some painkillers and go see a Chiropractor :)
ReplyDeleteYa, Anny's right. Those late night campings are bad for you. Give the others a chance la... hehehe
ReplyDeleteNessa - I'm immune to painkillers la ... The pain is so bad right now that even sneezing hurts!

ReplyDeleteWow! Mariuca drops 900 cards a day? I think you can learn from her how come she does not develop back pain. Maybe something to do with her cats! haha!
ReplyDeleteWait! You dropped 600 cards? Crazy! I don't have time for that. Just drop a measly 30 cards or less a day. Some days, it's 0 cards. LOL!
Ask your lovely wife to do a back massage for you lah. Or pay a lovely girl to massage for you if your wife refuses. Haha!
Hmmm....u must slept in one position the whole nite kan? Thats why you are having a back ache now...
ReplyDeleteYou woke up in the wrong side of the bed maybe, maybe not cos you didn't have bad moods. Or too much work in front of the computer, hehee! You need physical activity to fight the pains of old age. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou need to rest by the sound of it. But I suspect you'll be back soon. I wish your aches better.
ReplyDeletehow's your back? if the pain persist, then maybe you shoud visit the doctor.
ReplyDeleteAcupunture helps!
ReplyDeletePerky - Thank you very much for reminding me ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteMei Teng - LOL! You also say I'm old! Too stubborn to go see a doc la ...
ReplyDeleteThanks Tammy :D I hope it gets better soon too.
ReplyDeleteAnny - I don't think it's a fracture cos I didn't fall or anything. I have a feeling it's the way I slept la ... How not to laugh when I visit your blogs and see all your funny comments! LOL!
ReplyDeleteArrghhh! The pain, the pain ... LOL!
Anny - LOL! Thanks a lot ... just keep Bem away from the FC spot... hahaha ...
ReplyDeleteMonica - Thanks :D Urmmm, actually by the time the day was over, I dropped about 800 cards for all four of my blogs ... hehehe ...
ReplyDeleteFoong - Hahaha! Yeah, that's probably the reason why my back hurts so much!
ReplyDeleteKadusmama - Yeah, I think that must be the reason la. I tend to sleep in all kinds of weird positions ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteMarlene - I think it's sitting and blogging till the wee hours of the morning is the main culprit and couple that with old age, you've got the perfect recipe for backaches ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe World According To Me - Yeah, rest is really what I need. Been working my butt off the past week ...
ReplyDeleteMama Mia - It's getting better, thank you :D
ReplyDeleteAiyoo BT, I faint at the sight of needles la ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteEver thought about whether it could be your mattress?
ReplyDeleteNice
ReplyDeleteHey, are you still in pain now? (You posted this on Wed your time, so I hope you have healed by now.)
ReplyDeleteKeep us updated Nick.
Nick, it's all about position, either the way you sit or the way you sleep. When we're getting older, our body gets very demanding! :o)
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeletePerry - That was my first thoughts anyway but then my mattress is still pretty new and was purchased from IKEA so that out of the question ...
ReplyDeleteToƱito - Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThe Real Mother Hen - Actually the pain is on and off and it's making a huge dent in my blogging time ...

ReplyDeleteThe Real Mother Hen - My boss has been telling me to go see a Chinese sensei too ... I'll give it a couple of days and maybe take him up on his offer ...
ReplyDeleteRozella - Yeah, that might work ... this really hurts like crazy. At least the pain killers help.
ReplyDeleteRozella - Hmmm, I should try that. I got aches and pains in every part of my body ... LOL!
