When The Cat's Away, The Mice Will Play ...

Where has the time gone? I've been so busy with work, which is a good thing really, that means there's more money coming in, that I didn't realize its been almost a week that I last wrote a post. Geez, I gotta start getting back into the groove of posting daily or at least a little more consistently otherwise I'm going to lose all my readers. You all won't abandon me now would you? LOL!

Anyways, nothing really much has been happening around these parts except that I've been up to my neck with office work. The worst part is I haven't even completed half of it and more keeps coming. This must be payback for the day off I took last two weeks ago. Remind me never to take holidays again.

Speaking of holidays and all that, my boss has gone overseas for a short break himself and left me in charge of the office. Not that there is anything much for me to be responsible for seeing as how the adage 'when the cat's away, the mice will play' seems pretty apt for me right now cos everyone just decided not to come in to work today seeing as how the boss isn't around! Damn them all to hell.

Because of that I'm left with having to do all their blooming work on top of my own. There's going to be some big time hell to pay when I see them next week! So utterly irresponsible of them. But at least my boss left me with this cute little assistant. She just loves running around all over me and longingly sits and stares at me while I work. And the best part is even wifey likes this cute little new assistant of mine :D Check out my other blog for pictures of this pretty gal :D

That aside, I've got a lot of catching to do on your blogs. I just checked my Google reader and almost fainted at the amount of new postings from you guys that I haven't read yet. It's going to take me all night and at least the better half of the morning catching up but catch up I will.

Before I start blog hopping, I must add this little bit of not very good news that I read about today. The government has decided to increase the fares for public transport over here. Well, fine and dandy, if the transport service here was decent to begin with. With the kinds of service they provide, I wonder what justification those 'learned' ministers in our government based their decision on?

In the first place, the people who rely on public transport are people who don't have their own transportation and the elderly and how is this going to affect them financially? I'm thankful that I don't have to rely on our public transportation which is next to useless!

And the Minister in Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Nazri Abd Aziz said public transport companies were also expected to improve the level of their service in line with the raise in fares. Is that so? You think they will, ah? What makes you think that just because you've given them the option to increase their prices that will in turn make them improve their service? If you believe that Datuk Seri, I have a bridge in Uganda I'd like to sell to you.

Oh well, I suppose I shouldn't be so darned skeptical and maybe give these public transportation guys a chance to prove themselves first right? But then, I've seen and heard this crap so many times I'm so confident that we'll still get the same old crappy public transport service but with an increase in price. Now, you tell me who really benefits from all this? It's definitely not the public.

Ok there, I've got that off my chest, now I can go visit your blogs with a clear mind :D

Back when I was in school...I used to wonder. And today, I am hearing this statement again? When will it happen? Nobody wants to wait until the cows come home..oh.

  9. Yeah, we've heard it all before. Increase fares, better service. All rubbish! Luckily I don't rely on public transportation, I have suffered 2 years on public buses, and I will not get onto a public bus ever again!

  19. Hello Nick.

I am the blogger your friend Anton stole from. He did not just lift a few words here and there, he plagarized whole posts and pretended he wrote them.
As I can see by your blog, writing is a passion and a delight as it is for me. I take great pains as well as pleasure to write my pieces. They come from my heart and soul and are derived from my personal experiences, observations and life learning.

Anton is a phony and a thief. As my blog friend Carmi pointed out, what he has done is immoral and illegal.

If you enjoyed the piece Anton posted..."having faith in others and myself" as well as a handful of other pieces, including some of my poetry, I invite you to read them where they rightfully belong....on my blogsite.

I thank you for your time.

  20. Angela - Unfortunately, the public transportation isn't the only thing that's bad over here ... the list is a long one ... siggghhh!

  21. Carmi - Thanks for the heads up. I'm appalled by the fact this Anton is going around stealing people's post word for word.

To be honest, I can't remember who Anton is but I must have left a comment in his blog to be informed of his pathetic ways.

I tried looking up his blog but it's offline so I can't really say if he's stolen any of my content word for word but if he did, I hope a pile of bricks fall on his thieving ways!

But once again, thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to pass the word around.

  22. Awareness - First of all, thanks for the update. Secondly, Anton is really no friend of mine cos my friends would never blatantly steal posts word for word. I can hardly remember who Anton is and was really shock to see that I was on his list of followers when I did a search for his profile! Gee, I feel violated ... LOL!

Anyways, I'm as appalled by his thieving ways just as much as you are though I have no idea if he stole any of my contents or not since his blog is offline now.

But thank you for taking the trouble to inform me. I'll be sure to spread the word around about this little cretin!

  23. Oh well. So much for a "for-the-people" government...

Btw, cute little assistant you have there!

  24. I know how it feels trying to catch-up with all the blog updates ... likewaise, I'm always in that predicament nowadays and I've not even gone for a holiday!

    Anyway, happy catching-up to you!

Just popped in to let you know, "you've been tagged!" Hope you'll check it out at http://insidemybubbletoday.blogspot.com/2009/07/today-inside-my-bubble_17.html

  25. Oh you wont lose your readers like me! I've only been posting once a week lately too, because sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the days!

And today is my day to catch up / read / comment on blogs too!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wenny - With the rate everyone is posting,it'll be next to impossible to catch up ... LOL!

I'm tagged? Urmmm, thanks ... LOL! I'll come check it out :D

  27. Meleah - That's nice to know Meleah :D Yes, there should really be 48 hour minimum in a day!

At least you have a day to catch up. Me, I'm up to my neck in work and it gets hard just find the time to even blog these days ...

  28. Hehee, any employer would want an employee like you. I'm sure your boss can see those "mice" sooner or later.

With fares hiking, no wonder everybody would like to own a car instead. I'm surprised how the fares increased in my hometown now. It's almost tripple than when I left years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Marlene - Well, I hope he does cos they're really no good for the company. It irks even me.

I just heard even worse news, they might be increasing the electricity tariffs over here again soon! Siggghhh!

  31. Public transportation in Brazil sucks! Bad service and it's very expensive. By the way, this problem seems to be worldwide, everyone complains a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Cidao - Yeah, it seems like a worldwide problem but I've seen some countries that have excellent public transportation.
