Life Is Like A Box Of Chocolates ...

Hey people, it's a Friday and I happen to love Friday's but then you already know that, didn't you? LOL!

Anyways, I wanted to post this quite a while back but didn't really get around to posting it. Since I have some time today and the fact that I'm happy cos it's the weekend tomorrow, I thought I'd write about it.

About a week back, wifey and me went for one of our date sessions that we haven't done in a while. Oh and the pictures below were taken with my horrible cell phone camera and not with those cool camcorders so forgive the image quality.

I took a day off and we headed to one of the nearby malls for a lunch date. When we reached there we couldn't decide what to have. We walked around from restaurant to restaurant looking for something that would attract our fancy. Wifey was feeling a little 'steakish' so we went hunting for restaurants serving decent steaks.

And as strange it seemed, though they were loads of places there we couldn't really find one serving decent steak. There was Tony Roma's but we opted not to go there cos we tried it before and though the food was decent, we didn't really wanna go there again. Then there was TGIF but since wifey had dinner there not too long ago, she didn't want to go there again.

That didn't leave us much choice. I suppose there was Secret Recipe, Nando's, Manhattan Fish Market and the likes but it's all something we've tried before and we were looking for something different. Then we remembered that there was Bubba Gumps here and we have never been there. So off we went to Bubba Gumps.

We were there a little early and the place was kinda empty which was fine with me. The moment I walked in, I was impressed with the ambiance of the place. We were seated in this cozy little cubicle like place and since it was our first time, the kindly staff came and explained to us about the 'Run, Forest, Run and Stop, Forest, Stop' concept. Thank god they did otherwise we would have been sitting there for eternity waiting for our orders to be taken ... LOL!

After the orders were placed, we sat back and took an eyeful of the surroundings. I kinda liked the kampung (village) ceiling look and the decor on the wall which made me feel right at home. Then our orders started coming. I had the promotional menu which consisted of a garden salad, topped with blue cheese dressing (but of course, since I'm crazily in love with blue cheese) with garlic bread, followed by the main meal consisting of urrrmmm, I forgot what it's called but it was the ribs thingy and when it came it looked so huge that I instantly thought of Fred Flintstone (don't ask me why ... LOL!). Next on my list was the chocolate chip sundae which l absolutely adored and this coming from a person who doesn't really like sweet stuff.

Wifey had the ala carte menu which consisted of Cajun shrimp for starters and followed by a steak meal (again I forgot the name, if I asked wifey she would probably remember) and after eating all that, she was so full she decided to skip dessert altogether! Yes the portions were so huge that we both had trouble finishing our meals. There I was giving her huge chunks on my ribs cos I couldn't finish them and she in turn kept throwing back huge portions of her steak cos she couldn't finish it either ... hahaha!

Suffice to say we both came ambling out of there look like stuffed hippos! I must say that our first experience there was a good one and I'm definitely going back there again on our next date session. The only ironic thing is I found a restaurant that I love and it's specialties happen to be prawns and shrimps, something of which I'm utterly allergic too. But then, prawns and shrimps happen to be wifey's favourites so anything that make her happy makes me happy too.

With that said and done, here's wishing you all a great weekend ahead. My BBQ session tomorrow has been postponed seeing as how my older boy has just come down with flu and fever ... siggghhh ...
