FaceBook, Twitter And The Internet Are Evil!

You know, I've always stood by my belief that we have a bunch of clowns running the government and time and time again, I'm proven right in my assessment. Some of you may have read this article on the Star online yesterday and I can't help but throw in my two cents worth.

First of all, let me say that I totally think our beloved Information Communication and Culture Minister has been living in some long forgotten bygone era and he's just proven it yet again.

*clap, clap, Mister Information Communication and Culture Minister*

Here, read what I copied from the Star yesterday. My thoughts and comments are in red.

Malaysians advised against being immersed in Facebook, Twitter.

SEREMBAN: Malaysians, especially Muslims, must avoid being totally immersed in the internet culture, especially Facebook and Twitter, said Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

He added that facilities like internet could not be accepted wholly because it was a form of business introduced by the West and 'Malaysians were just users.' (Urmmm, I think the internet was introduced by the West so you should stop using it and revert to smoke signals for all your communications!)

'We are not saying that they cannot use Facebook or Twitter but when using such facilities they must upkeep the values taught by Islam, Buddhism or Christianity (I don't recall reading any of this in the bible) to maintain our culture,' he told reporters after opening a Seminar on the 1Malaysia concept here on Saturday.

He added that Malaysians who used internet services on social networking sites should be careful with what they see and hear. (Why? Cos people who use the internet and social network sites are liars?)

'We must be strong in our believes and culture because the identity and image of our country depends on us.' (Well, most of us are pretty confident in our faiths and identity and are not stupid enough to get swayed so easily!)

'They are just selling Facebook, Twitter, L-Band and various other services, even through space, as a product but we do not do such business. (Then why do the Police force have a team using Facebook?) We accept all this in a state of cultural shock,' he said.

He chided some Malaysians who belittled those who were not savvy of the Facebook and Twitter culture.

'We should not be quick to condemn or look down on those who do not use Facebook. Newspapers are still relevant, (HAHAHAHAHAHA ... the mainstream media? Still relevant? HAHAHAHAHA! That bunch of government control people? HAHAHAHAHA!) so is Facebook, but do not be carried away with everything and disregard the old system,' he said. (Yes, don't disregard the old system so we can remain a backward nation while everyone else progresses forward)

Rais also praised the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) for its success in tracking down a student from the National Arts Culture and Heritage Academy for posting a public safety threatening comment on Facebook about the recent spate of attacks on churches while discussing the ongoing 'Allah' controversy on the popular social networking website.

'Syabas to the commission for its action in nailing those who used Facebook, Twitter and SMS for the wrong reasons.'

'As a former analyst of the law in the country, I wish to advise the people that they cannot escape from the law for their actions,' he said. (Tell that to RPK)

Rais said the Information Department had also found that 62% of Malaysians understood the 1Malaysia concept. (Based on how many people interviewed? 100?)

He added that the Government would initiate more programmes featuring the 1Malaysia concept, especially for students. (Thank god I'm no longer a student!) - BERNAMA

No wonder we as a country can never progress and compete with the rest of the world with 'exceptionally intelligent' ministers like these in power. What year does he think this is? The 1920's? While everyone else advocates and embraces progress, here we have a minister telling us that we should not accept facilities like the internet!

Aiyoo Mr. Minister, like that you should stop using your cell phone, stop using your text messaging service, your email, close your ministry's website cos they're all using a form of business introduced by the West and 'Malaysians were just users.'

I wonder what amazing statement would come out of some ministers mouth next? Maybe vitamins for men are bad? I wouldn't be surprised what with the people we have running this country. I think my dog Pebbles could do a better job ... LOL!

  1. What these esteemed Ministers thought of never cease to amaze me.

Anyway, I stop watching 8.00pm news and only read the newspaper for the articles not so much for the current local news.
