Space Age Stuff ...

I was out grocery shopping last Sunday and was looking for a new razor kit. I'm currently using those disposable razors cos they're much cheaper and come by the dozens. But the one slack and major drawback about these disposable razors is that it sometimes feels like you're shaving with a blunt piece of wood!

So I decided to buy a new shaving kit, you know, one of those fancy schmancy ones you see on TV where they have this hunk showing off his smoother than a baby's bottom face. Yes, those same ads that make it look so effortless to shave and if you're a guy, well you know how untrue that is. Shaving is by no mean effortless.

While at the hypermarket, I headed over to the men's section and started looking through the many varieties and brands they have there. What really shocked me about these razors were the price. They were phenomenally high to the point of needing a loan just to buy one!

I stood there rooted for a few minutes staring at the price and shaking my head in disbelieve. It looks like I'm going to be having to shave with those blunt wood like disposable razors for a while more cos I'm sure not going to spend good money to buy one of those razors which I think is way too expensive to begin with.

Granted, they did look fancy and like they came from outer space and all that, but it's only a razor kit and it shouldn't be costing so much. And the replacement cartridges alone would require mortgaging your house just to purchase. What happened to those good old regular shaving kits of the days of yore that worked just as good?

It's no wonder people don't shave these days. I hate shaving, it's not an easy task, especially for someone like me whose stubble grows within the same day. I prefer having a clean shaven face and so does wifey, urmmm I mean she prefers me having a clean shaven face and not herself ... LOL!

She hates it when my stubble starts to grow and I get too lazy to shave. She's into clean shaven men and don't you clean shaven men get any funny ideas now ... LOL! It can be quite a hassle shaving everyday and those disposable blades don't really help all that much. Sometimes I don't shave for a day or two and those are days when I'm barred from kissing her on the cheek ... hahaha ... she says it feels like sandpaper :P

That was one reason I was looking for a new shaving kit, something that made shaving more fun and less hassle. I wish there was some special magical or wonder cream that you could apply to your face and just wash the stubble away every morning. Wouldn't that be awesome. I suppose there probably is a formula out there but I don't think those shaving product companies would introduce it to the public cos it would surely ruin them.

I really hope somebody will introduce a shaving cream that will really wash away the stubble and not just for shaving purposes but until then it's back to that blunt piece of wood like thing!

  1. Those hair removal creams are way too dangerous for the face skin which is supposedly sensitive, which is why probably shaving is the best way to go... otherwise you could try one of those creams women use for leg hair(they smell awful, though)

Hope you'd be able to find one that does wonder.

4 yrs back, my wife got me a Braun 360 series shaver (machiam Beemer ... LOL), and it gives me a smoother closer shave than before ... still working great now ... except had to buy a replacement charger cos the original one conked out

u can try one, too ... i used to buy Philips shavers but the shave is not as smooth and close as Braun ... so, no more Philips for me :)

  16. Homely Guy - Those electronic shavers don't work for me. I have one and I think I've used it only 3 times ... LOL! I need to shave the old fashioned way and that's where it becomes a hassle ...

  17. Found your posting on an unrelated google search. Not to toot my own horn (too much anyway) but I have a bunch of videos on how to get a better, less expensive shave using a single blade safety razor (my blades cost me $0.17) and traditional lather cream or soap. Lookup 'mantic59' on youtube (not sponsored!). I also have a blogspot blog (with the obvious URl).
