The Grumpy Old Man

People say that as you grow older you get a lot more grumpier. Well, I for one think it's absolutely true, especially with me! If you ask my wife, she will probably agree ... LOL!

I'm a lot grumpier these days and my patience level, even when I'm taking those sleep aid pills is not what it used to be. I get easily annoyed with a lot of things. Sometimes even the smallest and most irrelevant thing will set me off. I used to be able to have a lot of patience. It would take a heck of a lot to even get me going.

Unfortunately these days, my tolerance for things are not very strong. I get pissed off by a lot of things around me. Stupid and incompetent people are the major contributors of making my blood boil. Unfortunately though, this country happens to have a heck of a lot of these kinds of people.

In my younger days, I was a picture of calm. I could take anything and everything anyone could throw at me. Nothing people did no matter how annoying would get even an ounce of a reaction from me. I would just keep quiet and smile. Maybe that was why people bullied me quite a bit in my younger days.

I can't even recall a single incident where I lost my temper except for one when I was in standard four. I had this class mate who used to tease and bully me throughout the entire school day. Unfortunately he sat behind me in class and would always be hitting my head from behind, pushing my chair, throwing paper balls and whatnots at me. This kept on going for as long as I could remember until one fine day when I finally snapped.

I remember he threw an eraser at me from behind and I don't know what overcame me but I got up, jumped over his table and punched him silly. He was bigger than me but I think he was too stunned that I actually reacted to his taunts and it took the teacher and two other classmates to pull me away. Of course, I ended up facing the disciplinary teacher but trust me it was worth it cos he never ever again bullied me ... LOL!

Like I said, other than that one isolated incident, I hardly ever lost my temper. But now, in my not so young age, I tend to be a heck of a lot grumpier and my patience level is pretty thin. The worst thing is, it's like someone up there knows I get pissed off so easily and they purposely send morons to piss me off.

Take for instance, when I'm driving, I'll always end up following some idiot who will be driving sooooooo slowly that he/she will be causing a nice long string of cars stuck behind them. Or you get people who love double parking parking their cars behind you and won't come out no matter how long you keep honking.

Maybe as you grow older your tolerance for stupidity becomes lesser and lesser. Wifey just thinks I'm becoming a grumpy 'old' man ... hahaha ... I'm not that old honey :D But yes, I am getting a lot more grumpier these days. What do you guys think? Does becoming older make one a lot more grumpier. Oh, wait a minute, I forgot you're all still young punks! LOL!

  6. actually.. my father is quite the reverse from you.. yes yes.. i am comparing my dad with you since you are "OLD" hehehehhee

My dad's temper has gone down quite a lot in his winter years. He used to be quite a fiery man when we were little. I guess the stresses of life and trying hard to make ends meet do make ppl bitter and angry at the world.

Take it easy ya.. you sure dun wanna burst an artery over some moron :D

  10. I think as we get older we see so much more that pees us off. Certain things become far more important to us, therefore they have the ability to annoy us at a greater level! Or maybe we're just all grumpy old gits by the time we're 30?!

  11. Anny - Woi, I'm not that old la ... LOL!

Maybe when I get to your Dad's age, I might calm down a little. Maybe then, some of the morons that surround me might just be swallowed up by the earth or something ... LOL!

  14. Xin - Yes, yes, you're still a young punk ... LOL!

You may be right. All those years of pent up anger must be taking its toll now. I hope I don't blow a blood vessel or something one of these days.

  15. The World According To Me - I think you're right. As we age we see things on a different level and things that were okay to us a few years back is not viewed the same anymore.

But then you may also be right that we all turn to be grumpy old gits the moment we hit 30! LOL!

  17. Yep. Lately, I've found I have a lot LESS patience than I used to, I get annoyed at little things and loose my temper too quickly. It's something Im trying to work on - but for now I'll blame it on getting older too!

  18. I think as time goes by one becomes less tolerant to stupid things. It's as if there's a limited space for tolerance - once that is exceeded then it sets you off over practically anything.

  19. Sriyany - Hahaha ... but green is my favourite color la.

  20. Meleah - I'm still sticking with blaming it on old age! LOL!

  21. Zen - I agree. As we age, we get less tolerant of stupid people all that much easier.
