That Time Of Year ...

Christmas is coming really, really, really soon and I haven't even done a thing about it. The tree is not up, the shopping hasn't been done, the music production software for all those yuletide songs haven't been found yet ... gosh, there is just so much to do with so little time.

I wasn't really planning to put up the Xmas tree this year cos a close uncle just passed away last month and out of respect, I decided against a tree. But then, it wouldn't be fair to the kids if I kept the house empty and besides, not that I'm inconsiderate or anything but I'm sure he would want everyone to celebrate and not mourn anyway or at least that's what I tell myself ... LOL!

The thing is, I don't just want to put up any old Christmas tree. I have a theme in mind but that particular theme is going to be hell to do cos I would need to make every single customized tree decor myself by hand and right now I just don't see how I'm going to find the time to do it. Worse still, time is really running out to get things done.

The last time I made a custom Christmas themed tree decor, it took me ages trying to carve a snowscape scene out of nothing. Back then, I had a little more time on my hands. The wife has volunteered to help me make the ornaments but first I got to start designing them and then printing them and then fabricating the base and then and then and then ... you get the picture, right? A lot of work is involved.

I'll give myself till this weekend to at least start the designing process and get things moving from there. Hopefully I'll get the tree up before Christmas :P Maybe I should just stick with whatever decorations I have but that will be no fun at all. We'll just have to wait and see.

While I love the month of December, I also dislike it to a certain extent cos lots of money is going to fly away. There's presents to be bought, Christmas clothes for the boys to be purchased and then there's also all that new school uniform and accessories that need to be ready for the new school year. That's going to put a huge dent on my finances this month.

Oh well, I can't really complain, it is after all the month of giving and receiving and I'm hoping that big fat jolly fellow with the white beard is going to drop a huge sack of a few million dollar notes my way ... LOL!

  1. Hahaha if you've been good this whole year, maybe just maybe the jolly fellow with the white beard will drop one on you.

I so know how you feel.. end of the year is the year to burn a hole in your wallet. Just hope it's not a permanent hole. I have to think of Buddy's school things and Allie is also going to school this year. She's going to kindie and kindie fees are a @#$%^!

I remember one Christmas deco that you did that I thought was fantastic. Was it the snowscape one? That was awesome! So I wish you all the best in your designing process and hope you find the time to make it all come true. :)

    Happy preparing for Christmas!
