The Hartlezz Chicken Restaurant!

A couple of months back I posted a rant here about Hartz Chicken. I had an incident with them that left a bad taste in my mouth. The family, especially the boys love eating there cos of their all-you-can-eat menu. To be honest and fair, they do offer some pretty decent food and the price is also reasonable.

But what happened during that incident with us put us off from eating there again. The fact that my complaints and emails to the management went unanswered further strengthen my resolve to give the place a miss from that day onwards. Imagine what kind of management they have that doesn't even bother answering complaints from their customers.

Anyways, that was way back in February this year. It's been months since we've been there and last Saturday, me and wifey felt like taking the boys for an all you can eat food binge. And we decided to give Hartz Chicken a second chance. This time we decided to try their restaurant at Sunway Pyramid cos we didn't want to go back to the branch where we initially had problems with.

The boys were out at one of their friends place and after we picked them up, we headed straight to the restaurant. We were a little late and it was going to be time for the breaking of fast and if we didn't get there before then, we knew all the tables would be taken up.

We reached there with quite some time to spare before the breaking of fast was officially announced. The restaurant looked pretty empty. There was only one or two tables that were occupied. The boys were pretty excited cos they just love this all you can eat restaurant. Well, to be honest, so do I :D I love chicken and an all you can eat chicken joint is like heaven on earth to me.

So, I go to the counter to pay and get a table for us. This is where all the crap starts. There I was, standing at the cashier counter and one of the staff just looks at me with this rather sullen and perplexed look on her face. I tell her, I want a table for the four of us. She doesn't answer me for a few seconds, then she looks at the reservations book which has about 4 names on it and asks me if I was going to eat there or take away.

Huh? Take away? It's an all-you-can-eat joint and she was asking me whether I wanted to take away? I can eat everything there so would it be fair to say that if I wanted take away, I would want everything on the menu packed up for me to take away? Damn silly girl!

So I say no, I'd like to eat in and she looks to the cashier who then looks at me for a few seconds without saying a word and finally ask me if I can finish eating by 6.30pm. It was about 5.50pm then. I gave him this non understanding look and asked him why? He said that the place was booked and I had to finish eating by 6.30pm if I was to be let in!

Ok, let me state her again that the reservations book only showed 4 names and there were currently 2 tables being occupied and there were more than enough tables to go around. Oh and I must mention that it's an all you can joint and here I am told to rush through my dinner and finish eating withing 30 minutes or so? WTF?

Are you trying to tell me that you're refusing to let me, a paying customer into your restaurant that has god knows how many tables empty and with only 4 names on the reservation list into your restaurant? And if I wanted to be let in, I must promise to finish my 'all-you-can-eat' meal in 30 minutes? What the heck kind of reasoning is that?

And before I could even lose my temper and give them a nice dose of healthy grilling, wifey who was listening in, grabbed me, said something nasty to them (I can't really remember what) and stormed out of there. She was fuming mad and if she didn't grab me and walk out, we both would have decked the bloody stupid dumb ass cashier.

This is the first time I've ever been told that I have to finish eating at a certain time, in an all you can eat restaurant at that! This is also the first time I've been denied entry into a restaurant for one of the worlds most stupidest reasons. I was mad, really mad. You should have seen the look of dejection on my sons faces. They were all set for a nice round of food binging.

I knew complaining to the management would come to naught after the complaints I sent during the first incident in February. But I'm seriously not through with them yet. I'm still going to find ways to pursue this matter. And I hope that one of their management would stumble upon this post cos I am recommending for people to give this place a miss!

I hope some of you, my good blogging friends would help me spread the word about this seeing as how they have a management that will NOT answer your complaints at all. Shows you what they think of their customers. They're absolutely atrocious and I don't even think they train their staff at all, judging by the ones I had encounters with. I have given up on this ridiculous restaurant for good! As far as I'm concerned they can all go rot in hell.

So people, please stay away from this restaurant. Go to McDonalds or maybe the road side stalls instead. You'd probably get much better service and at least they won't ask you to finish eating your food in 30 minutes!

  1. yikes looks like a pretty nasty experience Nick. I would have given them my calling card and told them to look for a write up about them for all the world to see if they had done that to me :) At least now we all know where not to eat :)

  2. I wonder how this joint can even stay in biz when you compare it with McD where the crew smiles (most of the time) and greets you.

  3. Empty Streets - Maybe I should have done that but I was fuming mad at the time. I really couldn't understand their logic!

    Happy weekend anyway :D

  4. Dano - Well, they're mostly kinda empty most of the time anyway. And you should have seen the sour faces they had when I was there that day, it was enough to turn milk sour!

A great weekend to you :D

  5. i would have done the same thing you and wifey did Nick.

if they want to deny me a place in the restaurant and want to sound nice, they should at least give a reason that i can accept....not some blardy answers where I can still question back.

  6. Goodness!!!! What a lame excuse given!! and telling you to gobble your food with a stipulated time was just stupid!! Thanx for telling us about this 'hartzless' restaurant nick, at least we won't have to deal with a sour face in the future..
Anyway..wish you great weekend this week!

  7. Absolutely heartless and brainless! I can't stand bad service. I will never step into this place, ever!

  8. Carol - It was a ridiculous answer la. Imagine forcing me to eat my all-you-can-eat dinner in half an hour? Crazy isn't it?

I am so over eating at that place!

  9. Kadus Mama - I want to tell the whole world about them if possible. This wasn't the first time I've had nasty experiences with them. Stay away from that place if possible.

And a wonderful weekend to you too :D

  10. Flower Power - Ya, one thing I can't stand is bad service. It's not like I was eating for free or anything. Stay as far away from this place as you can :D

  11. that is too bad especially when you enjoy your meal and people ask you to finished everything by 6.30pm.usually when we go out for dinner we need some space to let us enjoy the eating at the resturant but reading what had happened to you and your family, i would say..they not deserve to do that...cuz u pay the food so they can't give you that limit to finish by 6.30pm..hmmm

  12. The only chicken outlet I visit is KFC. :-)

  13. i would be fuming mad like you did too...i might even grab a plate of food and stuff it into the dumb ass cashier mouth, and ask if she could finish all within 30 minutes!!

it's funny how some run their business...i thought customers were suppose to be king, okay, maybe not king, but we deserve a better service!!

  14. Unbelieveable dude! Half an hour is never enough at a regular restuarant let alone an all you can eat joint!

They probably have your picture up and have marked you as a person who really can eat all that you can hehe...losing money mah...LOL

Maybe you should eat all that you could in a half hour and then taken back a healthy portion too LOL

    Cheers bud

  15. Sweet-Girlicious - That's exactly my point. I'm paying and not eating for free so I find it ridiculous to impose a time limit, especially one so short. Even children probably can't finish eating in that amount of time ...

  16. Gallivanter - Yeah, I'll stick to KFC from now on :D

Oh and I can't access your blog from my home PC, which is strange. I'll check your blog out when I'm back in the office cos I can see all your new posts in my reader but I just can't seem to access it from home though.

  17. KM - That would have a been a good idea. I was really fuming mad!

Well, these days we're at the whims and mercies of restaurants. No more such thing as customer is the King and all that ...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Adrian - LOL! You may have a point there about them having my picture up somewhere ...

I actually wanted say ok, I'll finish eating in 30 minutes and when they come chase me out, I'd make a huge fuss, scream, shout and kick and all that ... hehehe ...

Bunch of idiots, that's what they are? Remember how we practically ate Pizza hut down once long ago when they had an all-you-can-eat offer and no one asked us to leave. I think we sat there for hours!

  19. Aiyo, if they really don't like serving all-you can-eat-buffet, then don't, right? Rather than give this kind of half baked attitude that pisses people off. Your wife is right to storm off. Don't waste time arguing with them.

  20. That's one chicken restaurant off of my list.

    ReplyDelete
  21. BT - Yeah, just make it an ala carte restaurant. How can they even ask me to finish my meal in 30 minutes! But I'm not 100% through with them yet though.

    ReplyDelete
  22. *gasps* I can't believe they have the balls to tell their customers to finish eating within a certain amount of time. That's just bollocks!

Anyways, I've stopped eating there for years for pretty much the same reason as yours - crappy service. Even the food ain't so great anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  23. good lord. that's terrible. WTF is right. I will be sure to steer clear of THAT restaurant.

  25. Having worked in the hospitality industry for over 16 years, I cannot- for the life of me- wrap my brain around that idiot at Hartz Chicken. Are you kidding me??

I have NEVER heard of anyone ever being asked if they can eat in a certain amount of time, in order to be seated. That's INSANE to me, not to mention despicable customer service. You should forward this post to their corporate offices ASAP. If for no other reason than to keep that from ever taking place again. Those people need to get another job, not dealing with the public.

Good for your wife, for whatever nasty thing she said to them! LOL

  26. OMG!!! I'm also very angry for u now!! I've been to the SP branch once but they didn't give me a bad time. But still, WTF indeed?? I tell you, today itself u write a complaint to MM Hotline can or not??? If I were u, for sure dah throw a huge tantrum right there and then! How can ask ppl if they can finish eating by a certain time?? Bodoh!!! :(:(:(:(:(

  27. at least they put the sign, all place reserved. and maybe just maybe that they actually doesnt have any reservation.. but because they know when time close to breaking fast, people that fast, rushing to eat.. so they will get more customer and they think people that fasting order more.. maybe just maybe. but really is pathetic restaurant.

  28. Geesh..30 minute at a buffet..my son just get started in the first 30 minutes!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Perky - Yup, that's what they did. That's what pissed me off and the fact that there were loads of tables still available ...

Well, it's their loss anyway. I can always find other places to eat that will not give me crap like that!

  30. Meleah - Terrible doesn't even begin to describe it. Thanks for the show of support Meleah :D

  31. Meleah - LOL! For a moment there I thought James Bonds superior 'M' stopped by my blog ... hehehe ...

  32. Tammy - That they do. Thanks for the show of support too :D

    ReplyDelete
  33. Corrina - That's a good idea. But I doubt they'd do anything. I have send emails to them before complaining about my earlier incident and they just ignored me!

I think if wifey didn't walk away, she would have decked someone ... LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Marzie - MM Hotline, now that's not a bad idea, seeing as how their management don't respond to my complaints. Might as well go public with my dissatisfaction ...

Bodoh is absolutely the right word :D

    ReplyDelete
  35. Izzat - Yeah, it would have helped if they had a sign that said the place was fully reserved or something but they only had this tiny reservation book and it had only 4 names on it ...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Diamond - Exactly, the same goes for me. I can spend hours in an all-you-can-eat ...

    ReplyDelete
  37. You sound a lot like me Nick. Once a company or service outlet has treated me badly that's the last time they get my custom and I spread the word far and wide about how bad their service is. There is nothing more damaging to a business than bad word of mouth. It serves them right too. They should have addressed your complaints and at least made you feel like a valued customer. They don't deserve customers if this is the way they are going to treat people.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'll stay away from this Hartlezz chicken restaurant for sure!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Gypsy - Well, all I know is they lost at least 4 customers from my family and I'm going to spread how lousy they are to everyone I know out there. I'm not through with them yet.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Stupid bahluls!!! How can they do that! Established eateries usually let go of booking if there are a lot of customers and not let go of the customers because of the bookings. How would they even know that those 4 tables are gonna be there at 6.30?? Just hold the table for 10minutes like other places la! And don't look at your customers like they're the stupid ones. Ish!! I pulak yang geram. I think if I yang kena, habis la tu kena from me!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Syura - Exactly. It wasn't like they place was full or anything. There were loads of empty tables and there I was a paying customer being given crap! Siggghhhh and to think I love eating at that place ...
